Wow... not sure what to say about this. Regardless of whether the men responded appropriately or not by firing (and it seems they did not), they are going to be made an example of to satisfy the mob. In all likelihood they won't get a very welcome reception in jail, either, if indeed the police in Greece are really so heavy handed. I have no doubt that from here on in they are going to be a little more wary of how they handle protests.
My sympathies to the boy who was killed.
