It is like a Greece ship which moving left or right in the midst of the ocean in order to go somewhere. What else?

The fact that this election is close, particularly after it has been disclosed that Tsipras has been taking expensive gifts from a wealthy donor, shows the Greek people deserve all of the austerity that the EU demands of them.

Abstention was particularly high, at nearly 45 percent in an election-weary country with a traditionally high voter turnout ...

Alienation and indifference to the democratic political process, a distinct lack of motivation will have stark political consequences when attempting to implement the conditions to this disastrous 3rd bailout agreement. On January 1st Greek depositors hard pressed life savings will be subject to 'bail in'.

EU Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive is looming in the back ground, a precondition of the bailout. My instincts compel me to smell a rat, the imposition of losses on 'senior' creditors (100,000 Euros)..... What underlying criteria will not rank senior unsecured bondholders and depositors equally? The is no stop mechanism in place to bail-in bonds whilst excluding deposits. When the smelly stuff hits the fan and the public at large realise they are to be held to ransom for the refinancing of their parasitic banking system I would not want to be in Alexis Tsipras footwear.

“I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this great victory, a clear victory, a victory of the people,” Tsipras said. “I feel vindicated because the Greek people gave us a clear mandate to continue our struggle, inside and outside the country to lift our country’s pride.”

A victory of 55% of the people? A mandate of the people. Which people? Big words, but now the action to put this nation's finances in order.

continue our struggle, inside and outside the country to lift our country’s pride.

Pride comes from paying your own way. Greece is a long way from that. In fact its people and government don't even seem to be aware of the concept.

Astounding that a party which proved so staggeringly inept at dealing with their EU lenders - digging a far bigger hole than they would have otherwise been in - has been re-elected in order to do yet more damage.

You have to despair about the self-defeating choices of the Greek electorate.
