It seems the chief of police tried to mobilize army units to seize guns from the local cartel-- that's bad for biz of course. So one day, when operation costs in the US or elsewhere becomes more dear and hostile-- I'm sure they too will blackmail officials and businesses with equal risks.

It's just a matter of time before the violence spills across the border.

If it spills over then it will be back to the Wild West.

"Gangs have frequently blocked streets to thwart soldiers"
Mexico needs a new and improved army. Maybe Obama can give them the money for it.

Sending Clint Eastwood would probably fix the problem.

Lame jokes aside (Sarge), the citizens of Nuevo Laredo need as much military help as they can get. I'd hate to have to fight my way to work - running gun battles just to reach a bus stop. And for what? To keep the US supplied with drugs. I'm not saying the US should step in and start shooting but Mexican instability will probably affect the US more than an anti-Taliban dictator in Iraq ever did.

Nothing unusual here.

The President and Democrats say there isn't any violence on the border. Move along people, nothing to see here.
