50 grenade explosions marked the battle

I made mention in a previous post about the other shoot out in Acapulco about the weak central government in Mexico and I was replied by some posters that the rampant violence in Mexico even though they have banned personal hand guns is caused by the flow of guns from America. I agree that the sale of guns from America may be a nice part of the illegal gun market in Mexico, but tell me, when was the last time that it was reported in America that a criminal mob has used grenades in robbery attempts or against the police.

Once again I say, the flow of illegal arms into Mexico comes from other nations (former USSR and other places), and that Mexico needs to take a round turn at cleaning house internally making the place more livable for the common person there so that they don't have to either join criminal gangs or immigrate to America illegally.

Sorry Alphaape, most guns do come from the USA. They are bought mostly LEGALLY in the Southern US states, where the US has the most lax laws in the country (Texas, Arizona and New Mexico) yes, most of the AK 47 do come from China, but they are first shipped completly legally to the USA (Long Beach, California) and every once in a while you will see in Mexican newspapers that another 18 wheeler full of Chinese made AK 47 was abandoned on the US side of the border and they could not make it in to the waiting hands of the Mexican mafias. The Mexican government has protested and protested for years to Washington D.C. Only now, that the violence in beggining to "spill over" to Tucson, LA, Dallas etc..is the American government trying to inspect cars and trucks leaving the USA into Mexico, but sadly enough, the poor, underpaid, easily bribed Mexican customs officials are the ones trying to stem this endless "tsunami" of high caliber guns, rifles, machine guns, etc.. Recently M 16 have gon missing from US garrisons in El Paso, TX and elswhere. Why? An M 16 is dirt cheap in Texas, but cross it over the Mexican border, to Ciudad Juarez, and low and behold any knuckle head can make a hell of a lot of money selling these prized weapons to the Mexican mafias, corrupt police etc.. Tourism?? Acapulco was a nice place, now sadly enough, drugs are the better bussines there and well all over Mexico. Does Mexico need more help? Yes! Most Mexican customs officials are KILLED if they dare interfere with these illegal shipments of machine guns into Mexico from the USA.

When the narco gangs outgun the police you have a serious problem. Mexico should have broken the back of the cartels before they got this strong.

President Felipe Calderon has sent at least 3,000 soldiers to Guerrero state as part of his nationwide crackdown on organized crime launched in 2006. Since then, more than 10,800 people have been killed by drug violence nationwide.

This just sounds like a war on terror in Mexico.

elbudamexicano, yes guns may come from the US and via the US, but like I said, how many reports do you see in the US news about grenade attacks? Also, as many like to say, the US needs to curb our addiction to drugs since that is the reason why the drugs are coming from Mexico. Some have even said that why not just legalize drugs in the US to cut down on the criminal trafficing. So I say to you, if it is a great solution by some to legalize drugs in the USA, why not legalize guns in Mexico.

Yes, the US does have gun crimes, but once again I ask, show me reports of massive shoot outs killing 16 and using grenades in the US wich has laws that allow its citizenery (as long as they don't have a felony record) to own weapons, as compared to Mexico where guns are outlawed, and yet we read reports of massive killings.

Most Mexican customs officials are KILLED if they dare interfere with these illegal shipments of machine guns into Mexico from the USA.

I imagine that these are the same customs officals that look the other way when the drugs are being shipped from Mexico to the US, as well as when the illegal immigrants cross into the US. I guess these are also the same officials that come down hard when hikers and farmers who live on the border accidently stray into Mexico from the US with their own hand gun in the car and they are thrown into jail for violating the Mexican arms laws.

Rampant corruption rules the day in Mexico. Is it any wonder the country is falling into complete and utter chaos. I guess blaming the violence on US gun laws is easier than dealing with the real problem with Mexico, no respect for the law. No wonder so many of them come to the United States to seek a better life for themselves and their children.
