**Hamas militants pounded southern Israel **with a barrage of rockets Wednesday, hours after Israeli forces killed six gunmen

The clashes began late Tuesday after the Israeli army burst into Gaza to destroy what it said was a tunnel being dug near the border to abduct Israeli troops.

Hamas bombed after they were attacked.

The reason for Tunnells is to get in food and medical aid for the Palistinians. < :-)

It'll be interesting to see Obama's line on Israel/Palistine, though I think nothing at all will change there, save perhaps a slightly less hard-line attitude towards Palistinians, and less of a carte blanche to Israel.

Glad to see both sides acting in the usual depressing manner.

Though I seriously doubt the article's credibility when it claims Hamas has the abillity to "pound southern Israel". If that were the case the jewish state would have disappeared long ago.

The Palestinians made the mistake 8 years ago of thinking Bush would be more neutral than the Clinton Administration. He ended up being even worse for them -with the exception of his team's incompetence and unquestioning belief that democracy solves all problems (which boosted Hamas). I don't believe the Palestinians will make the same mistake with Obama. They'll wait for Obama to walk the talk this time around.

Quite possibly the funniest post ever written on JT. Well done adaydream. :-D

Hamas, on the other hand, needs the calm to strengthen its hold on Gaza, where it seized control in June 2007, and restore its military capabilities ahead of a potential future battle with Israel.

They need the truce to prepare for a future battle...?

The Israelis used to have a system where they'd allow some sick/injured Palestinians to get free treatment at one of their hospitals near the border. The Palestinian militants responded by trying to send a woman with a fake injury through the checkpoint with bombs strapped to her body to kill the doctors at the hospital. They also fired a rocket that landed in the driveway of the hospital.

Seems to me if they wanted medical aid the best thing to do would be to go ahead and get free services. Instead they chose it as just another point to attack. Just like how militants attacked a depot in Israel that supplies Palestinians with fuel. Or how they attack humanitarian convoys heading from Israel to Palestine.

The militants are more than happy to work against the best interest of the innocent Palestinians if it means the chance to kill one more Jew.

The two headlines that introduced the fresh round of fighting so far:

    1. Israel launches airstrike on Gaza

    2. Hamas fires rockets at Israel after 6 killed

Gosh...it's like Israel just decided to start attacking again and now Hamas is forced to respond after their people are killed.

Israel and Palistine? What a complete mess! I hate to see this kind of news! Revenge! Revenge and more revenge? Maybe we should just let all the Jews and Muslims fight each other with sticks and stones until they are either all dead or really sick and tired of killing each other?

I don't believe the blame is one-sided. And for those who believe the Palestinians are evil people I would reference the conflict in Belfast, Ireland. Their was plenty of evil. Where did that evil go? Where is it now?

We need solutions in the Middle East. And for those who refuse to believe the Muslims are capable of solutions please get out of the way to make room for those who do believe. Look at Israel and Egypt; they may not be the best of friends but they have learned to coexist.
