GeorgeRouault: Nobody is being "deported", and Gaza is not "occupied". If Hamas gave up terrorism and recognized Israel, they could have millions in aid and open borders tomorrow... then again, it wouldn`t be Hamas any more.

  • GeorgeRouault at 05:29 PM JST - 20th April

Ah yes and Gaza is not under a criminal siege Palestinians are not being ethnic cleansed and Holocaust is a Hollywood moive.

  • GeorgeRouault at 05:59 PM JST - 20th April

Our message to the Israelis is this: We do not fight you because you belong to a certain faith or culture. Jews have lived in the Muslim world for 13 centuries in peace and harmony; they are in our religion "the people of the book" who have a covenant from God and his messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon him), to be respected and protected." "Our conflict with you is not religious but political. We have no problem with Jews who have not attacked us — our problem is with those who came to our land, imposed themselves on us by force, destroyed our society and banished our people.

Khaled Meshaal خالد مشعل leader of Hamas.

    GeorgeRoualt:

"our problem is with those who came to our land,"

LOL... the problem with that nice sound-byte is that "our land" for the Hamas includes all of Israel.

  • Zaphod at 11:13 PM JST - 20th April

    George,

read the Hamas charta. And Israel is not a "racist oppressing state"; the label is absurd.

  • GeorgeRouault at 11:26 PM JST - 20th April

It is true that in reality there will be an entity or state called Israel on the rest of Palestinian land. Israel is there, it is part of the United Nations and we do not deny its existence. But we still have rights and land there which have been usurped and until these matters are dealt with we will withhold our recognition.

Hamas has agreed to make a state according to 1967 borders. 20% of historic Palestine. USA has also agreed to this. Every country in the world including Palestinians have agreed to this.Since Israel will not give Palestinian that Israel becomes a racist oppressing country.

  • GeorgeRouault at 06:53 AM JST - 21st April

"Historic Palestine" includes Jordan, too. Israel exists on a miniscule section of it. And the Palestinians (inhabitants of Palestine) are Jews. And their history predates islam easily by 2000 years

Oh dear. I am not sure what you are trying to say but let us take one step at a time.

    Palestine the geography.

Palestine constitutes the southwestern part of a huge geographical unity in the eastern part of the Arab world, which is Belad El-Sham. In addition to Palestine, Sham contains Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. It used to have common borders with these countries, in addition to Egypt.

The borders of Palestine start with Lebanon at Ras El-Nakoura at the Mediterranean sea and head in a straight line to the east till it reaches the area beyond the small Lebanese city of Bent Jubayel, where the separating line between the two countries curves to the north at a straight angle. At that point, the border comes around the fountain of the River Jordan, and a narrow passage adjacent to it from the east connects it with the land of Syria and the lakes Al-Hola, Lout and Tabarriyya. The border with Jordan begins to the south of Tabarriyya Lake at the drainage of Al-Yarmouk River. It continues along the River Jordan. From the fountain of the River Jordan, the border heads south across the geometrical middle of the Dead Sea and the Araba Valley till it reaches the of Aqaba.

The borders with Egypt could be compared to a straight line that separates the semi-island of Seena and Al-Naqab desert. The border begins at Rafah at the Mediterranean Sea till it reaches Taba at the Gulf of Aqaba.

On the west side, Palestine lies next to the international open waters of the Mediterranean Sea at a distance of about 250 km from Ras El-Nakoura in the north to Rafah in the south.

Before there was such a thing called Judaism.

During the third millennium BC, the Ammonites, the Canaanites and also the Yabousians and the Phoenicians, which are considered sub-branches of the Canaanites, had migrated to settle in Palestine. Their emigration to Palestine was around 2500 BC. The Canaanites settled on the plains of Palestine and the Ammonites settled in the mountains. The Yabousians settled in and around Jerusalem; they built the city of Jerusalem and named it "Yabous" then "Hierosolyma". The Phoenicians settled on the north coast of Palestine and in Lebanon.

I woun't go into details but if you want to get technical we can. Before there were Jews there were people living there and they are the off shoots of today's Palestinians. Palestinians converted throughout time from Judaism, Christianity and Islam and they also happened to live in peace with each other unlike Europe. So if a Palestinians is direct descendent of Abraham but converted does that make him a lesser child of god? If a Lithuanian converted to Judaism does that make him a direct descendent of Abraham? The Zionist argument is so full of flaws yet in US they are hailed.

Geez. How about a little perspective. Check out this website which shows the size of Israel compared to the Muslim Arab world. This tiny spec of land has the entire Islamic world in a frenzy. How they despise the Jewish Infidel living among them.

Helter_Skelter: And that tiny spec of land had nothing previously until Jews were allowed to do something there.

jews have lived in the Muslim world for 13 centuries in peace and harmony" that is not true. As long as they didn't step on any people's toes they were ok

Moderator: Once again, readers, we ask you not to get bogged down in historical issues. Focus your comments on the story.

Israel and Egypt virtually sealed Gaza last summer after the violent Hamas takeover of the territory. Since then, only basic supplies have been allowed through Gaza’s crossings.

    so why only hit Israel?

  • skipthesong at 04:14 PM JST - 21st April

All Israel needs to do is pull it's illeagal settlements and then the conflict is over." Nope, they were attacked how many times before this settlements went up.

Then Israel no longer practice apartheid and Palestinians become free." Nope again. other countries have blocked the Palestinians as well, but only Israel gets hit..There are many non-Jews living free and prosperous lives within Israel, including Muslims and Arabs, white and black and yellow.. Palestinians relize the idea that their tactics don't work and only makes things work for them, then you would have an argument.

You do not hear Khaled Meshaal خالد مشعل leader of Hamas hailing 9/11" Nope again, they were on TV celebrating.

“We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attacks on the Twin Towers and Pentagon"" Trying to wedge a division between people doesn't work, you need more than to propagandize. And, just how would they be benefiting? People like you have accused the US of practically building the country so why would Israel benefit now?

Israel and Egypt virtually sealed Gaza last summer after the violent Hamas takeover of the territory. Since then, only basic supplies have been allowed through Gaza’s crossings.

    Oh, the irony. From CNN.com:

Israel sends nearly 200 humanitarian aid trucks into Gaza every week through the Kerem Shalom border crossing, which separates southern Gaza and Israel. Last week, Israeli troops stopped an infiltration attempt by a group of Palestinian militants at Kerem Shalom, killing one and wounding another, according to Palestinian security sources.

On April 9, Palestinian militants infiltrated Israel through the Nahal Oz border crossing and fired on the fuel terminal there, killing two Israeli civilian workers. In response, Israel halted already reduced fuel shipments to Gaza.

At this point one can only assume that Hamas and the other Palestinian militants are preparing the residents of Gaza for all out suicide against Israel. Targeting humanitarian aid for your own people is suicide. Increasing the intensity of your attacks against a much stronger opponent is suicide. Telling 4 Palestinians to go to a checkpoint and blow themselves up while killing zero Israelis is literally suicide. They are turning Gaza into one massive suicide state so Hamas and the militants can use them for their one purpose on earth: killing Jews.

Yet people still walk around saying Hamas and the militants are fighting for the Palestinian people. Right.

  • SuperLib at 04:29 PM JST - 21st April

    so why only hit Israel?

If they kill Egyptians then the radicals in the world have a tough time stepping in and being a spokesperson to defend Hamas. If they kill Jews it's easier, plus the radicals don't have to deal with the messy Arab-on-Arab violence that undercuts their entire position.

  • GeorgeRouault at 05:00 PM JST - 21st April

skipthesong. Why is it that you support oppression, racial discrimination and oppression? It was no surprise that the United States and Israel walked out of a United Nations conference on racism as soon as Israel came in for criticism. It is, however, a disgrace. Israel certainly is a racist state. Its own human-rights advocates call it that. The claim that Israel doesn't discriminate against non-Jews is absurd on its face.

Carter is calling what Israel is doing in OCT as apartheid. Many other anti apartheid activists from South Africa is saying what is going on in OCT is worse than during the height of the apartheid. I can quote a few famous people.

The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is not just an issue of military occupation and Israel is not a country that was established "normally" and happened to occupy another country in 1967. Palestinians are not struggling for a "state" but for freedom, liberation and equality, just like we were struggling for freedom in South Africa.

    Nelson Mandela.

The UN's Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, John Dugard the South African lawyer has compared what is going on in OCT as worse than what was going on in South Africa.

As I stated earlier. Every country in the world including Arafat, PLO, Hamas, USA, have agreed that Israel should draw it's borders back to the 1967 borders. Any settlement on the Occupied Territories is illeagal according to international law and agreements. When Israel draws back to the 1967 borders and Palestine can create a state of the remainding 20% of historic Palestine divided into 3. Gaza, West Bank, East Jerusalem then Israel no longer practices apartheid and Palestinians are free. While US supports a 2 state solution according to 1967 borders they also support illeagal settlements. So which is it skipthesong? I find USA to be a hypocritical liar who supports racial discrimination, apartheid and oppression.

As long as Israel does not annex Palestine or give freedom to the Palestinians so that they can create an independent state Israel becomes a racist oppressing regime which practice apartheid.

The nature of the Israeli state and its Spartan culture of permanent war, is all too vulnerable to time, fatigue and demographics: In the end, it is always a question of the next generation children and those who come after us.

I am not sure why Nethanyahu said 9/11 was good. You should ask Nethanyahu that. The mainstream American media decided to bury the story because it could damage Israel’s image and bring about a strategic change in US policy toward Israel.

    Sharon has previously stated.

"don't worry about American pressure on Israel, we, the Jewish people control America, and the Americans know it"

  • skipthesong at 06:47 PM JST - 21st April

skipthesong. Why is it that you support oppression, racial discrimination and oppression?" I don't that is why I am against Islamic lead countries and leaders who do not allow others to convert to other religions, do not allow women many things, allow men to marry 8 year old girls, throw girls who have been raped in jail or worse kill them... So, why are you all for oppression?>

It was no surprise that the United States and Israel walked out of a United Nations conference on racism as soon as Israel came in for criticism." Just because you accuse somebody of something, doesn't mean it is. The UN is full of poor = innocence and any action against them, including simple words, gets labeled. It is, however, a disgrace. Israel certainly is a racist state." Then why can anyone go live their as a citizen? Can you say that for those other countries? Its own human-rights advocates call it that. The claim that Israel doesn't discriminate against non-Jews is absurd on its face" I've been there three times, never ever one problem... and I usually get asked if I have any Arab blood in me all the time in Tokyo..
