I am no fan of ISIS, but nor am I a fan of Assad. And I don't the moderate rebels have a chance to win out. I have to wonder, would this caliphate that ISIS wants be worse than Assad, or better? And why was the west dead set against ISIS from the start? It seems everyone wants to forget that France bombed ISIS months before ISIS attacked Paris. If Merkel gets involved, Berlin could be next. Was there real value in going this route?

Texas Chainsaw Massacre vs (comparative) Sesame Street.

And why are you so sure of that? Any details? Who will be brutalized? Common people or intellectuals? Complete innocents or the power hungry? The rich or the poor? Will killings be isolated to political opponents or en mass?

I note that lots of regimes began brutally, including Assad's. But can we not expect things to calm down through stability gained over time, such as with Saddam and Castro?

This whole thing began with the people protesting Assad. Should we not go with the will of the people now that its already become a war? Can Assad put the lid back on?

If the people are going to have any shot at change, there has to be a regime change. There is no sense speaking of peace because the war is well under way. Choosing Assad is to choose the past. It may just happen that once ISIS gets control, they will start to crumble from within, and through that, the moderates will inherit the keys of government.

Syria is not the prize for ISIS's Apocalyptic mission.

The goal is Jerusalem, to engage fellow rapture lunatics from around the world, who'll be delighted to oblige.

Germany as with England as well as France has a large population of Muslims, many in districts where the government police forces cannot enter safely. Unlike the USA where there are pockets of Muslim population, their countries have concentrated areas of Muslim population which unfortunately can become a internal conflict of major proportions.

While, religious and racial prejudice can be an issue here, they must consider the probability and possibility of internal confrontation already in place. There is no way to know and predict that those populations may have been penetrated.

The major problem being that almost all Muslim population throughout the world have been silent and inactive regarding the ISIS/ISIL movement which is in fact a religious and racial war. There is so much doubt and anxiety.

Participation in battle may as with Russia face more undesirable enemies than wanted. And so far Germany has not been directly attacked. So there is much to consider.

What? Are you serious? Do you live in any of these countries to back up that bonkers statement?

So basically we leave IS alone because we're afraid of being the next Paris, yes? Well done, you've just capitulated to these monsters. The Luftwaffe decimated European cities during WW2 with much more primitive aircraft... let them flatten IS. Better than sending a couple of Battalions' worth of troops to Mali.

I agree ISIS is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but their goal isn't just Jerusalem. The goal is world- wide sharia. And Iran is ahead of Israel on their list for destruction. They are psychopathic and will not stop.

Thunderbird2:

" What? Are you serious? Do you live in any of these countries to back up that bonkers statement? "

He is absolutely serious, and you can visit these no-go areas yourself if you want. France actually used to officiall count and map their "ZUS" (zone urbain speciale), until the number got to embarrassingly high, they solved the problem by stopping to count. Paris, in the event, is surrounded by them.

What is bonkers is that people still pretend the issue does not exist.

@Thunderbird2,

It's not bonkers, just moronic, totally unsubstantiated brainfarts of the tiny hearted. Although I've passed through some very hairy neighbourhoods in the US, there are no no-go areas in Europe.

A zone urbain spéciale, for our other learned friend, is defined by three metrics:

A high percentage of public housing, with little home ownership.

High unemployment.

A low percentage of high-school graduates.

Faux News has eaten humble pie over this issue already:

In January 2015, after the Charlie Hebdo shooting, Fox News labeled the ZUS as "no-go zone".[6] French media agencies denied these claims.[7][8] After complaints Fox News issued an apology, saying that there was "no credible information to support the assertion there are specific areas in these countries that exclude individuals based solely on their religion."

That's bollocks Willi. I've lived in France for 18 years and work has taken me in les banlieus plenty of times. They're rough housing estates for sure, not no go zones for the police. This is just more of your obsessive Muslim-hating rhetoric.

The problem here is that you guys are trying to use logic and reality, but the bubble is now with added logic-reality-repellant™. Logic and reality don't get into the bubble. It does however have a special racist-opinion-lube™ to allow anti-Islamic ideas through with the least amount of resistance possible.

Sorry, the bollocks is on your side. I don´t know when the last time was you visited a ZUS, but I am quite sure you did not so as e.g. a western dressed girl, or wearing some trigger clothing like an Israel flag on your T-shirt. Fwiw, I am European and I have seen the very area were I lived turn into an islamist ghetto.

Plenty of videos out there, here is just one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq5aEly_63g&spfreload=1

Sure, "Allah Akbar" is just a random shout without any meaning, right?

It's hilarious to read your comments as the hysteria ratchets up. I've repo'd cars in Trappes, Mantes la "Jolie" and all sorts of hell holes in the Parisen regions.

I can guarantee a) you're talking utter bollocks and b) none of les banlieus are police no go zones. I realize that's technically only one point, but it's such a load of rubbish it bears mentioning twice!

But hey, I wouldn't expect the tinfoil hat brigade to take my word as gold. You're making these accusations. Let's see a credible source please. In French is fine Willi, I'll translate for the others....

@Madverts"I can guarantee a)you're talking utter boloocks".

Lol. Sorry, actions speak louder. What can you guarantee except words? At least, WilliB has just provided video. Speaking about credibility.

That willib finds a YouTube video that agrees with him proves nothing to me.

I asked from some credible sources reporting on his alleged all-Muslim no-go zones and guess what? He's given me none.

That's because there are none. That's because he's making it up to ratchet up his own hysteria to rant about Islam. Heh, and you're backing him up because he supports your beloved Putin.

Oh and willi, walking down a street dressed as a girl wearing a pro-Israel T-shirt probably isn't a good idea. Heh, it's a bit like that Die Hard film where Bruce Willis is sent to Harlem having to wear a sign saying " I hate (black people). It's called provocation but I'd like to see a YouTube video of you trying. Hell willi, I'll even offer to film it for you.
