They will be called as losers if they given up now. They need to fight until they got what they asking for. Police force can not use force on students who are demanding for democratic election for HK. If HK Polices have used force and then they have to post pictures and news on Internet and call out all HK residents to the streets. It will be PR disaster for HK and mainland Chinese leaders.

I agree, they can't give up if they want to accomplish something overall they need to keep up the pressure. If they don't they will be seen as a weak attempt at protesting and the CCP will see it as an easy way to get the HK populace under their boot since they have no real gumption to protect their rights in the long term. Unless HKers are planning a different kind of protest which is much more subtle and has more impact on Beijing.
