Yeah, it's pretty obvious "pro-Beijing supporters" materialized out of where??? I really think now is the time for HK and Taiwan's ROC get together and encourage China to have a democratic election between the ROC and the CCP. But the CCP doesn't want that....They know they'd lose by a landslide.

Fifty years ago the Communists were rioting against the British/HK establishment. At least back then, there were even pro-China schools in HK.

Presumably some of that sentiment is still around.

I heard on NPR news via the radio that the thugs attacking the peace-seeking people in Hong Kong could be getting paid by Beijing to block the demonstrators. If so, this could be Beijing's way to intercede ... violently ... at some point ... and with what they consider a good reason for doing it ...
