US cannot afford the sh*t like this.

We cannot afford these illegal aliens as these kids will be a liability for society for a long time.. I think I need to take care of our tax payers first, that includes disabled veterans, old senior citizens and children who are in poverty. We owe it to them.

Be firm and send them all home.

The biggest item in this bill is for the National Guard to militarize the border. Anyone with any knowledge of the situation will tell you how foolish this is: Like, after transversing a thousand miles atop a train and dealing with people who would kill you as soon as look at you, the presence of people on the border whose job is to take care of you is going to deter you? These kids are apparently already seeking out Border Patrol agents to surrender!

Worse, the article does not mention the assault on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA. Close to 600,000 young adults who were raised in America and have completed (or are attending) college, or have served (or are serving) in the US military, receive legal permission to work. This bill would abolish this policy.

In effect, this bill does nothing to deal with the crisis of young migrants at the border while generating a new crisis with the established, young undocumented culture.

Still, bully for Boehner in managing to get something out of the House. Perhaps it will play well with xenophobic voters in November.

What a bunch of garbage. Both republicans and democrats are trying to profit from this so-called crisis by passing hugely expensive bills to pay for something which they both refuse to do, which is simply to enforce federal immigration laws which have existed for decades. Crossing the border illegally, without a passport or visa is a federal crime, and is punishable by arrest, and deportation. Yet almost no one is arrested, and fewer still are ever deported. Unless of course, you try to come in illegally from developed countries, then you are detained and deported in a heartbeat.

The republicans passed their bill to placate and fool their idiot supporters. The house knows that this bill will never pass through the senate, and that the president will never sign it. It is simply empty posturing. The president will ask for more money, and promise to enforce the laws which he is already constitutionally required to respect, but he won't. Immigrating illegally is already against the law, if Obama can't arrest and deport current illegal immigrants even after the huge increases in DHS spending and manpower during the Bush administration, he certainly won't do so if he gets even more resources.

Republicans want cheap labor, democrats want poor voters whose votes can be bought by promising government benefits. Neither party cares about America's overcrowded schools, hospitals, and prisons, or the huge costs to society or economy caused by the influx of large classes of mainly illiterate, low-wage people who collect public benefits without having ever paid into the system.

Republicans and democrats care nothing bout letting in educated and skilled immigrants, as these don't work for low wages, and because their votes cannot be bought with empty promises or promises of more entitlements.

Too bad that in the election we have only democrats and republicans to choose between. I wish there was a "common sense" party, but if wishes were horses...

sangetsu03, statistics in no way back up your claim. Obama is known as the "Deporter-in-Chief" for a reason: Over 2,000,000 illegal aliens have been sent home during his five years, already outnumbering those sent home during W's eight. The statistics are complicated; for simplicity, I'm offering a link to a very conservative publication, the WSJ. What you will find is that illegal aliens with longstanding ties and no criminal records are generally left alone; break a law, though (and such laws could be as simple as riding a bike against traffic, as a case in my hometown proved), and you're out.

http://blogs.wsj.com/briefly/2014/05/02/5-things-obamas-record-on-deportations/

The House bill is pathetic. It does nothing to address either the current influx or the issue of those already there. Comprehensive reform is required; this will, though, likely entail a certain amnesty, which is anathema to the Tea Partiers, so it won't happen until after November - if ever, as long as the House remains in their hands.

Strangely enough sangetsu03, we do have other political parties. Unfortunately the press ignores them for the most part and the last election cost Dems a billion dollars. Seems spending cash in advertisements and campaigning are swaying for the sheeple. The alternative parties have little or no chance with the money=exposure culture.

I agree global. We have our own issues that need attention before we bring others. With black teen/young adult unemployment rate at nearly 22%, they need the entry level jobs not the illegals.

With retirement savings devastated in many aging and elderly, Social Security just is not enough and to tax more is not what any of us need to support the influx of forced upon immigration.

Another recent statistic is 50% of illegals are on some form of entitlement already. Legalize them and that number will increase.

That would be amazing, as even legal citizens find jumping the hoops challenging. If you care to read the facts of this debunking, check here:

@Laguna- Checking stats are great and I do all the time. Source is important and also from when they were reported.

Your "facts" are 5-10 plus years old! So much has changed under Obama Entitlement wise! Entirely too much!

This whole issue is a bad "karma blowback" from the War on Drugs. Sad.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The war on drugs was with good intent. The resources needed at the right places were not misplaced. The dollars spent were at the wrong places as well. One fact remaining is the demand for drugs is steady. Can't win a battle when users are prevalent. Overloading prisons with druggies and illegal drug salesmen was squandered money.

The biggest item in this bill is for the National Guard to militarize the border. Anyone with any knowledge of the situation will tell you how foolish this is:

I'm from California, a border state, it's NOT foolish, but highly necessary. I know you libs want open borders because you guys think anyone should be able to waltz into the country if they like. No, Perry did the right thing and I pray to God more of the border state follow the same lead.

Like, after transversing a thousand miles atop a train and dealing with people who would kill you as soon as look at you, the presence of people on the border whose job is to take care of you is going to deter you? These kids are apparently already seeking out Border Patrol agents to surrender!

If they the agents get fired on, they should be able to use deadly force as well, all the more reason I firmly believe we should build a wall and send from NOW every illegal alien back

In effect, this bill does nothing to deal with the crisis of young migrants at the border while generating a new crisis with the established, young undocumented culture.

Yes, it would help that the National Guard, will send them back or turn them over to ICE

Still, bully for Boehner in managing to get something out of THE HOUSE. Perhaps it will play well with xenophobic voters in November.

Jealous again? Your president is the biggest bully around without a doubt.

The Republican plans met with protest from immigration advocates and Democrats, who warned Republicans that they’d be alienating Latino voters for years to come. Latino voters backed Obama in his 2012 re-election.

So rather than do what they think is right for the Republic, and all it's people, Republicans need to learn to pander to demographics and play identity politics like the Democrats?

Perhaps it will play well with xenophobic voters in November.

Apparently respecting the law makes you xenophobic now. Well, I for one am xenophobic then and make no apologies for it.

Ah, another time sensitive crisis. The Tea a Party enjoys this. It's the only way they can make people meet their demands.

Both parties are partisan, so tired of it!

Just like the Democrats in 2008, partying, ramping and raving and bragging how they won and then what did they do for the last 6 years forced the entire country to do as they say, force people accept THEIR failed polices time and time again and again. There is NO difference.

Wait a minute..... California, New Mexico, Texas, Florida Neveda....etc. These states were supposed to be under the influlences of Span and those were Mexico for centuries not until those lands were grabbed by English speaking United states in 19th century

You can make that argument about most countries, land was grabbed, territories were divided, etc.

Who did Spain grab these states from? Even the natives who lived in these lands before the Spanish came lived in a state of nearly constant warfare, fighting each other for control of farmland and hunting grounds. I used to live in Nice, which is now part of France, but which used to be part of Italy.

And we see how well managed Mexico is today. Mexico is rich with natural resources. No reason for the disparity there. Clearly corruption is primary reason. And this goes for the rest of Latin America with the exception of Belize.

I don't want that mentality here!

No id didn't bruinfan. I favor decriminalization myself. Druggies will get their goods weather legal or not as we see. Treating druggies is what I prefer to do. Even if 10% was cured thats a success.

To the boarder. The house passed this. The Senate will not as long as the incredibly logical Harry Reid presides.

Well, except the fact that the Democrats were elected into a majority by the people and passed legislation by holding votes. The Tea Party is a small minority whose only strategy is to wait for a crisis, then force their policies onto the American public that they have zero chance of getting passed through voting.

Other than that, yeah, there is NO difference.

These kids are apparently already seeking out Border Patrol agents to surrender!

The reason why the national guard was sent to the border was because the shear number of children giving themselves up to border patrol meant that an enormous amount of border patrol agents were processing these children rather than out on the border patrolling, this left huge gaps on the border, in order to fill those gaps national guard units were sent help patrol the border.

"Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, said that the cartels are taking advantage of U.S. laws, which require special treatment for the children. He said nearly 40 percent of Border Patrol manpower has been shifted to manage the children, leaving the cartels with a free hand to conduct their other criminal activities.

The cartels purposely cross between ports of entry to tie up Border Patrol manpower, creating holes in our enforcement and facilitating their other lines of business, such as drug smuggling and the smuggling of known criminals into the U.S. Make no mistake, this is big business for the cartels,” Mr. Judd said in testimony he will deliver Wednesday to the House Judiciary Committee.

Meanwhile, immigration agents who used to focus on fugitive criminals within the U.S. interior have also been pulled off the job and sent to help with processing the illegal immigrant children, according to Christopher Crane, the union chief for interior enforcement personnel."

The problem is that even if you exclude the amnesty basically what comprehensive reform looks like is that in order for it to be effective is that it is going to be that anyone that comes to the USA for economic reasons will be let in and those that want to bring their families will automatically get to immediately. Outside of criminals it will basically be an open border policy. Because if you don't do that you end up with the exact same problem with economic migrants just crossing the border regardless if they are allowed or not because they want the money.

@yabits

Well, except the fact that the Democrats were elected into a majority by the people and passed legislation by holding votes.

And look at the result of the Demoncratic liberal policies that failed and are failing continuously. Good job.

The Tea Party is a small minority whose only strategy is to wait for a crisis, then force their policies onto the American public that they have zero chance of getting passed through voting.

Sorry, no, you got that totally wrong, of the Tea Party were that small, there would have been NO way in hell Cantor would have ever lost his seat, he himself was completely taken back, confident and sure of himself and what happened? 3 years ago, you could dismiss the Tea Party as some fringe group, but now, ONLY a fool would even think about doing that, but then again, we're talking about Democrats.

Other than that, yeah, there is NO difference.

Reid has over 300 House bills stacked on his desk waiting to be signed and almost as many in the House, there is NO way Boehner is going to put his signature and Give this president a Rubber stamp on everything the anointed one wants, that would be severe dereliction of duty and grossly irresponsible of him to do that

While people here complain about illegal immigration etc..guess who is getting all the HARD, dirty, low paying jobs done?? Yes, all the poor men and women who come up from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala etc..to clean your house, feed your kids, dogs, water your lawns, pick your vegetables. How do you have your cake and ea it too?? The USA needs hard workers who are happy to work for $3/hour while most US citizens look down at even jobs at Mc Donalds etc..starting at $15.00 an hour! So guess, who gets the low paying, dirty and dangerous jobs?? Construction etc...no benefits, no nothing, you get hurt and you get fired! This is the messed up reality of illegal workers in the USA.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@El

No one told them to come over and If they come illegally, what do you expect? Now because they broke the law and are NOT registered into the system they should get the same benefits as someone that is a citizen or a Green card holder and pay their filed taxes? This is absolutely nutty!! If these illegal aliens want to be treated the same and get the same pay, benefits and all the quirks that comes with being a citizen, then apply and get back at the end of the line and wait your turn like everyone else.
