The fake sympathy that so many Democrats showed for Huntsman didn't really change many minds. It was good strategy but showed naivete.

I find it amusing to see Republicans/conservatives who didn't have the time of day for Mittens now swear with passionate zeal that he'll crush the president in the general election.

Those GOPers really know how to fall into line.... LOL

The funniest thing about this is that all us “Global Liberals” knew it was going to be Mitt waaaayyyy before the vast majority of conservatives could wrap their brain cell around it. Everyone else in the primary was/is nuts so us Libs shouldn’t forget to feign terror of Mitt to help conservatives feel good about themselves. :-)

Honestly, the naivety among conservatives is very, very impressive.

Don't forget it is independents who rule. They decided the 08 election. They will decide it in 2012. Obama has lost them , bigtime.

Jeremiah - "Don't forget it is independents who rule. They decided the 08 election. They will decide it in 2012"

LOL! Haven't you noticed the 1%-controlled media is effectively controlling this one?

Questions for you: Ron Paul has done real well. Why is he STILL failing to get any decent coverage in the press?

Oh yeah! It's because of the "independents." That must explain it.

No, seriously, Ron Paul hasn't been getting any bigtime press coverage due to decisions made my media execs re: who they are going to air news about.

This has next to nothing to do with "independants."

Barack Obama is seen as vulnerable in his quest for a second White House term

Until the GOP nominates Romney - then it will be a cakewalk for Obama. Like him or not.

    Sushisake 3 thinks independents = libertarian .

    That is funny.

Romney finished off the Carolina debate by touting his belief in America, and free enterprise, and liberty. It sounds so old fashioned to MTV kiddies. He slammed Obama’s desire to make America into a European socialist model. That is gonna generate a lot of hatred and charges of racism on the left. But someone had to say it, since the three most debt-ridden states in America (that would be NY, CA and IL, sushisake2) all went for Obama in 08 and they will do so in November too.

Good grief, the GOP is dangerously close to nominating Mitt Romney! Time for Jeb Bush to jump into the race!

No, what is funny is how you make up totally unsubstantiated claims out of thin air and post them as 'fact.'

"Gingrich said he would “reassess” his candidacy if he lost in South Carolina and acknowledged that a Romney victory would mean “an enormous advantage going forward.”"

Why not just do a Cain and "suspend" his campaign?

No, he should do the honorable thing, do a Palin and QUIT.

The republicans will nominate a morman flip flopper that most of them cannot vote for at all. Sums up the state of the republican party, its falling apart under the strain of massive amounts of stupidity and hatred for the black President.

Seriously, Jeremiah? I mean - seriously? You believe that Obama and his supporters do not support America, free enterprise, and liberty? You think that young people do not understand and appreciate what they mean? You believe that, first, the European model is that abhorrent; and, second, that Obama wants to pervert the nature of America?

Well-drunk, that Cool-Aid, my man! The dog whistles were tweeting that a Muslim foreigner communist socialist totalitarian al Qaida supporter was on the verge of violating all that is good in America, all that makes America unique, and you apparently bought it!

The white bread utopia of yore the Republicans allude to never existed, FYI, but have fun mourning its loss anyway. It's easier than charting path to the future.

Yes, yes. The Republican party is dead. I remember hearing that a lot just after Obama was voted in. Course the the Republicans came back 2 years later, stronger then ever. And in all likelihood, will be gaining complete control of both houses of congress as well as the Presidency come November. No, I don't think your description of the Republican party has any basis in reality. Though its amusing to hear you proclaim it.

" Course the the Republicans came back 2 years later, stronger then ever."

People were expecting Obama to waive a wand and fix 30 years of Americans living beyond their means instantly. The Republicans didn't have a program then, nor do they no, other than abject opposition to everything. Unfortunately, unicorns just don't exist. If you want to analyse the state of the Republican partry, just look at the candidates that have been wheeled out.

The GOP can't not have a candidate so the bottom of the barrel are fighting it out for the nomination to eventually grasp last place. Not one of these candidates can beat Obama IMO no matter what his performance has been like, so I imagine any serious contender is biding their time for 2016. If the party still exists in it's current form that is.

    In all likelihood?

Do you honestly think Romney can beat Obama? Honestly? I mean cross-your-heart honest?

If you do, the GOP is dying to hear from you because it has no idea. In fact, the old school GOP is cringing at the idea of nominating a Mormon. They would rather a Catholic before a Mormon.

The Republican Party doesnt have a clue how to beat Obama. This nomination has been a farce so far and Obama has barely spent a dime. Wait til the Dems break out the cheque book. And if you think Mittens has taken a beating so far, wait until the mud starts coming from the other guys.

I am seriously waiting for your reply here. Like Obama or not, he is going to stomp on the GOP this fall.

I'll miss the Huntsman girl ads. They were the smartest thing of the 2012 republican primary.

Ah, so the Republicans in the house have just been sitting on their hands this entire time I see. Contrasting sharply with the Democrat controlled senate which is constantly passing laws, which if implemented would actually help the economy. Sadly though, the House just ignores them completely... Ah, wait, think we're a bit backwards here.

Republicans have put forward plenty of plans, to fix the economy, balance the budget etc, and yet neither Dirty Harry or Obama will let any of them go through. I wonder why that is? I mean, cutting spending is what Obama is all about now right? And of course he wants to fix the economy. Surely even a brainless moron could figure out that less regulation is good for business. And if its good for business, that means more hiring, more people working, more taxes coming in... All good things right? So why the ever increasing regulations? Why the deliberate choking of the American economy?
