Ain't going to happen all that easy. He may be taken out of day to day operations, but he'll still be govenor and he'll continue getting pay and benefits. < :-)

They may find it difficult to effectively prosecute the major. Conversations about a possible deal is not illegal. It only becomes illegal when the deal is done and the favor is made good on. As far as I can see it is just a lot of talk going back and forth and nothing really has happened. The Senate seat is still out there and the major is yet to do a deal. It is going to be a difficult case for Chicago's chief prosecutor.

How long til Rahm Emmanuel, Obama's own Karl Rove, goes under the bus?

Blagojevich certainly seems like a grasping climber and all the charges against him may be true, but don't you still have to be duly tried and convicted by some body of your peers?
Whether the Feds prosecute him or whether the Illinois legislature impeaches him, this is peer action. But the Illinois Attorney General asking a judge to remove a Governor without due process? That shouldn't happen.

It's suspected that Rahm Emmanuel was the one who called the FBI. < :-)

There are two different items here.
One is the right or wrong whether he commited a crime.
Second is taking action to keep the state running properly. The AG contends that the pressures that he will endure will strain his effectness and he can't soundly run his office. < :-)

I am expecting some of Obama's people to be thrown under the bus. Expect a Federal case against Blago and others = jail.
I guess this is the Obama-Change people were hoping for.

Haha. Madigan HATES Hot Rod. They are arch-enemies, and she wants his seat. She's probably dancing with joy right now.
Hey, adaydream... It's looking like the Rahm rumor is false now. Too bad, becasue it was a really great rumor.

To some extent yes, and to some extent no. And there's really no line to decide what to do in all cases. I don't have the answer but I do have an opinion.
I think the decision is based on the crime and the evidence at the time. If you're a child care worker and you're accused of abusing children then yeah, I'd like to see you removed from your job until the case is resolved, especially since you work with kids. Do I have proof that you're guilty? No. But based on the accusation I think it's sometimes right to remove the person from their job especially since their crime is related to their job. But even that might change. An accusation from someone who isn't necessarily trustworthy might not get the same result.
If you're the governor and you're on tape offering to sell a senate seat then you need to be removed. Had the evidence just been on person's word without any real evidence to support it then no, I probably wouldn't want to see the governor removed. I know Marion Barry hadn't been convicted of smoking crack but I sat there and watched a video of the guy doing it. Sometimes you just have to look at the body of evidence so far and decide what should be done with the person until their day in court has come, and sometimes I think it's reasonable to remove them.
I don't have a perfect rule to follow in all situations but I'd rather not put more people in danger if the danger appears to be credible.

SuperLib,
I largely agree with you. However, there is already an established procedure for removing the governor and the state should avail itself of that first.
Anything that the governor does in the meantime will be subject to so much scrutiny that it is unlikely that he would be able to sell a Senate seat for profit, even if that were his intention.

what a mess. this is big ladies and gentlemen not even the mainstream media can sweep it under the rug. the bigwigs inside the the corrupt illinois democratic party are doing everything they can to remove this guy as quickly as possible even if it means denying this guy his right of due process. the wagons are circling even before Obama takes office. change we can believe in, yeah right.

I don't think they have the power to throw Blago under the bus. -and if they push it to the Federal level more will be indicted. That's why they want Blago to throw himself under the Obama bus. Blago is not that dumb.
