Discussing a connection to Obama here is not unreasonable, considering it was Obama's senate seat that was for sale, one of Obama's own aides previously turned down the position, and Obama and Blagojevich come from the same Chicago Illinois political cesspool that has become synonymous with corruption.
If you have followed the corruption case of Tony Rezko you would not be the least bit surprised. Most of us who know about Gov. Blagojevich are saying, "What took so long?" I could not stand him since he served in congress and denied the passage of a train that would process some nuclear material. I knew he was grandstanding and I knew that the processing was both safe and efficient. I have a very strong tendency to support all environmental issues but this was not harmful to the environment.
I cheered when I heard he was lead away in handcuffs. I am sorry but I cannot presume him innocent. I could not serve on a jury in this case. He is a useless Focker (remember there is a movie with that in the title!). He has always been pathetic as long as I have heard any news about him. The only exceptions being an initiative on state healthcare and allowing seniors to ride free on public transportation. I now wonder what was in those propositions for him. He has held up the budget process several times. He is so arrogant that I could not hope for a better resolution than him spending a decade in prison.
Anyone hoping for Obama's involvement is blowing smoke up their own ass. Barack is squeaky clean. So please get your hopes up because you deserve the let down. I have watch Obama serve with integrity from my first exposure to him when he ran for congress and then later for the state senate. I also have known Rod to be scum since I first became aware of him.
I will admit I could never, ever have foreseen the hubris of the man operating his office in such a disgusting manner. I don't think it will have as great as an impact on the Democrats as many of the conservatives here hope. Even the Republicans from the state of Illinois seem to recognize that this is an individual who only has self interests and was not acting on behalf of the Democratic party. Should any other Democrats be involved with the Governor's wheeling and dealing then I want them to be buried by the Fed's also. I have no sympathy for such people and if the Democratic party suffers then so be it. I do know of many honorable Democrats (as well as Republicans) from the state of Illinois.
Oh, one more thing. What did he (Obama) know and when did he know it?
He knew nothing - ever! If Obama became aware of any information about the sleazeball Blagojevich the Fed's would have heard about it that day.
If anyone from the States is surprised they shouldn't be. This guy is typical of Chicago machine politics. You should see some off the lower level goons on the payroll. Blagojevich follows in the fine footsteps of George Ryan who currently doing time for corruption. It's a disease in Illinois and always has been way back to the turn of the century.

Actually, I don't think Obama had anything to do with Blagojevich's shenanigans. He's not that stupid.

I can't believe the audacity of this guy. To actually think that he could believe he could get away with it.
But then prison is filled with idiots like Blagojevich. < :-)

"I can't believe the audacity of this guy. To actually think that he could get away with it"
Blagojevich should have written "The Audacity of Hope."

Not so hard, eh?

I still prefer "Blago", though.

So then even more credit to Obama for having avoided most of the dirt.

Sorry, I should have said, "I am not the least bit surprised."
goodDonkey: "He ( Obama ) knew nothing - ever!"
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! If that be the case, then Obama's pretty ignorant about his hometown politics, ain't he?
Helter_Skelter at 02:54 PM JST - 11th December
We'll see. I don't recall a president-elect who was surrounded by so much corruption and so many unsavory characters before even taking office.

The other Obama is also very likely tied to this sleazeball:

"The other Obama"
That must be the Obama described in the book "The Audacity of Deceit."
