Their death row inmates are not just from Africa and Asia. That is a blatant distortion of the facts. There is a lot of Brits, Canadians, US citizens and a growing number of Australians including more recently the 4 who have been added to the waiting list. It is just that the Africans are by and large expendable, coming from countries with governments that are often human rights violators themselves and see nothing wrong with such a harsh and unforgiving form of social justice.

One wishes Indonesian courts were as quick to deal with their homegrown islamic terrorists. But in those cases, Indonesian justice closes both eyes and then some.

Every nation on Earth should follow Indonesia's example when it comes to dealing with drug smugglers and dope users.

It's an interesting case as the prosecutor only asked for Life. The Judge decided to increase the sentence.

motytrah- It is a another example of the share bias in seeking death for drug defendant in Indonesia. I can assure you that the Australians on death row there will most likely not be executed. Australia as a country has enormous clout in the region and can influence in no small way the attitude of the Indonesian Judiciary. It is clear that if you are from a poor country your chances of being executed for a similar crime in Indonesian is greatly increased.

carrying 3.2 kg of heroin" Is not a whole lot to be executed for.

Australia as a country has enormous clout in the region and can influence in no small way the attitude of the Indonesian Judiciary." Everton, I think you are wrong here. I think they are batting something like 250 as they have only been able to free a few out of many, and many of their own.

Wish we knew the whole story, perhaps they were setup.

skipthesong- Australian nationals are regularly arrested for trafficking drugs in that jurisdiction, and how many do you think have been executed in that last ten 15 years?
