"It's a shame that they have to die in the end. What encourages us to keep going through all the options is that, although they have been convicted, in this country every person has the right to life and to defend his life."

Maybe the lesson in all this (doubtful it will ever be learned though by the next group of idiots) is that if you want to live DON'T break laws that have a death penalty. Pretty simple stuff ,no?

It's not like someone accidentally starts up an international drug trafficking organization and doesn't know that it's against the law and punishable by death if caught in that country. What did they think would happen, they'd get a slap on the back of their hand and told not to do it again?!

" Death to Drug Smugglers " signs in the Airports are NOT cute things to take pictures of. They are there for a REASON.

100% correct. Totally agreed, but I think one reason as to why this occurs time and time again and people don't learn is GREED. Most are attracted to the allure of money and ALWAYS think or at least try to think that they can always find a way to beat the system and there's that, slight doubt I'll get caught factor. Personally, I'm not a big supporter of the death penalty, but you have to be a gambling fool to want to try and take a chance with your life playing Roulette. I would personally give them a lengthy prison sentence and hard labor, but that's me. We will one day read this kind of story again and if people think that the death penalty is a detorant, they are fooling themselves, the death penalty doesn't curb crime for the most part, there should be another alternative than putting these people in front of a firing squad.

I think you're missing the key issue of proportionality. Using your logic, why not extend the death penalty to every type of petty offence? We could do away with all crime once and for all... right?

The reality is punishments are hardly ever a deterrent when most criminals never expect to get caught.

The death penalty for drug smuggling is most definitely out of proportion. But regardless of that, they don't make it a secret. They are quite clear about the penalties, and if someone is going to smuggle drugs regardless of that punishment, they only have themselves to blame when they face it.

Oh, I bet there are a lot less Australians smuggling drugs out of/through Indonesia with the publicity from this case.

He has vowed there will no mercy for traffickers, saying Indonesia is facing an “emergency” due to rising narcotics use.

Since banging their heads against a concrete wall has not gotten them through the wall, obviously the answer is to bang their heads harder!

The death penalty is ridiculous, but in this case it's like flying to Mosul to sell Bibles and then complaining about your decapitation live on YouTube.

Go Darwin!

I wouldn't bring a bottle of aspirin into that country.

Indonesia Attorney-General Muhammad Prasetyo and President Widodo seem to be couldn't sleep at night unless these Two Australians reformed drug smugglers were executed. Indonesia A.G has been demanding for execution every time he make news conference. The Indonesian A.G Muhammad Prasetyo has complaint about the Lawyers of two condemned Australian drug smugglers for buying time and playing with Indonesian Law. I want to ask him. What lawyers suppose to do if their clients were about to execution by blood thirsty A.G? They are doing same as Indonesian Government’s appointed lawyers for condemned Indonesian drug smugglers and murderers in overseas prisons. If you want to save your countrymen and women from death row in other country prison and then you need to show how you have treating foreign death row prisoners in your own prison.

Indonesian Government has spending tens of millions of dollars for to free condemned Indonesian drug smugglers and murderers in overseas prisons. It’s reckless and ruthless to complain for Lawyers who are trying to save two human lives.

Indonesia problem with drug is corruption in Indonesia Police force. Drug dealers and Polices are like a wife and husband. Indonesia Police team up with drug dealer and blackmail drug buyers these peoples are tourist from Australia and Western Countries. The dealer will inform to Polices and descript detail of buyer appearance after he sold drug to tourist and Polices follow to buyer and blackmail him. It happens all the time in Bali. Also some of drug ice crystal meth in Australia was imported from Indonesia.

Indonesia drug problem won’t be going away even if Indonesia Government has going ahead with execution of these two reforming drug smugglers. They are continuing reforming themselves and helping other prisoners’ reform by Art class, English language class and spiritual counseling program inside Bali Prison. Painting Art class has helping Indonesian prisoners to find their talent and they can live by painting in community once they were freed from Prison. It will be biggest lost for Bali Prison and Indonesia prisoners who wanted to reform and live like normal citizen if these two were executed. Indonesia Government should delay execution and valuation on their reform pilot program in Bali Prison. It works in Bali Prison and then it will work in other Indonesian prisons.

President Widodo should know strong leader must be wise and also good heart as well. You can't call strong leader someone who made blanket decision by hatred without reading of their reformed and their reform program for fellow prisoners. By the way, President needs to be wise after all.
