Okay, what's the punch line?

1st degree escape?

This sounds like the beginning of an urban legend.

Sounds like a scene from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest . . .

Jeeze, all we need is a hockey mask and a shower scene and we've finished the next Friday the 13th.

They take criminally insane killers on trips to fairs? Oh my god, what the hell are those people ON? (And I don't mean the killers but the so-called carers.)

"acquitted by reason of insanity"

This is total BS. He did the crime, he should have been found guilty and executed.

wtf? he's in jail right?

No, he was not in jail, but rather a mental institution. He was acquitted, meaning not guilty due to his mental illness. Yes he did do the crime, but in Washington State he cannot be found guilty for his actions due to his mental disorder. It is an overused alibi. I agree with you Sarge, but that`s the law. Other than that, why a mental hospital would even consider taking any disturbed person, beyond a psycho killer, to a fair is beyond comprehension.

Methinks his insane head is going to be blown away very shortly by a member of the public. Everyone up in that area - probably even kiddies - have shotguns, don't they?

Yes, pretty much. Both Spokane and Sunnyside are in rural Eastern Washington, about 200 miles apart, where hunting is very common. But I think it will come down to a confrontation with police. And in the end the hospital that allowed this will have to answer a ton of questions...

This killer should have been killed when he was convicted. The family of his next victim will care less that he is insane.

going to be blown away very shortly

Lets hope so.

The mental hospitals are set up to handle adults that are unable to take care of themselves in a normal setting, not to take care of the criminally insane, that's what asylums were ment for but unfotunetly we don't have those any longer. Apparently its morally wrong to stick a psycho in a soft room for the rest of his life but its just fine to let him go on field trips.

This is just wild. No pun intended.

Several posters have mentioned it. This is the start to a great horror movie. The set is ready. Where's the camera? < :-)
