As one of the worst offenders in child abduction cases, this is definitely an issue Japan should take note of. If sanctions are imposed against nations harboring parental abductors, Japan as one of the most egregious offenders, would be in serious trouble. Personally, I hope this passes, so that if forces Japan to start to take notice of this issue, and allows parents from other custody, to have at least some role in their childrens lives.

No kidding. It's pretty amazing that Japan is not mentioned in this article.

Why does Japan need to be included? It happens everywhere.

I wish Japan would ratify the Hague convention on international parental abduction already. It's an outrageous situation, worse than the ones in the articles since Japan actually protects abductors.

molenir,
We may not agree often, but by the time I finished reading your post, I was nodding my head in agreement like a bobblehead on a paint mixer.

Tumbledry, this is JapanToday. It says so at the top of the page. Beneath that it says Japan News and Discussion. That, and the fact that Japan is a disgrace in this area, is why it gets included.
molenir, spot on. I hope so too.
