Memo to Muslims around the world. You have a golden opportunity to show those whom you claim unfairly criticize your religion that the term "religion of peace" has at least some validity. Here's what you do.

1.) Get your Muslim leaders in front of every TV camera possible and proclain that this act is not of Islam and declare that Boko Haram is not part of Islam. Loudly and clearly state that your support lies with the organizations looking for the girls.

2.) Work wholeheartedly with ongoing organizations to find those girls.

Now a common excuse used by apologists for Islam exremists and their enablers is that nothing can be done because of the threat of violence, etc. Well, this is probably the best time to face down the extremist because if you think Islam is a pariah religion now, just wait until the world gets news that these children have been raped and/or killed in the name is Islam.

samwatters, I think there is about as much chance of the world Muslims taking you up on your request as world Christians rose up in unison to distance themselves from the Lord's Resistance Army.

The fact is if people like you have already equated them, there is little chance of changing your mind. The equating is already preposterous. Too preposterous for world Muslims to glorify it with a response. You should know better without being told.

"samwatters, I think there is about as much chance of the world Muslims taking you up on your request as world Christians rose up in unison to distance themselves from the Lord's Resistance Army" I'm an atheist so I cannot comment intelligently on what Christians would or would not do.

"The fact is if people like you have already equated them, there is little chance of changing your mind. The equating is already preposterous." I beg to differ. I react to information and events and change my opinions accordingly. My (low) opinion of Islam as a religion/cult is based on a number of events over the past ten or so years. And it would change if Muslim behavior changed.

"You should know better without being told." I'll form my own opinions, thank you.
