DXXJP: "leave it to us americans to screw up your day. She should of marched his butt to the front gate and sent him off, or shot him for trespassing."
It wouldn't have mattered WHAT they did; the junta is pretty intent on blaming Syuu Kyi for anything they can in order to keep her steps away from taking the power that is rightfully hers. I don't think this can be blamed on nationality, in any case. If the guy were German or Taiwanese the result would be the same (save less anger by people eager to point the finger at those beyond the junta). The guy was a dimwit and probably didn't realize the extreme trouble he's caused -- he's no more a dimwit because he's an American than he's American because he's a dimwit.
Anyway, blame the consequences and result of what happened on the Junta, not on the fool who trespassed. If it wasn't this, it would be something else to keep her locked in or locked up.

Oh - what will the "international community" do, add another "protest" sticker to the Volvo?

No teleprompter the International community is gonna make some bogus claims the the Junta has been shopping for yellow cake and has al qaida connections. Then they are gonna invade, kill lots of people, do some torture on the side and call it a day.

The international community needs to put pressure on China and India. This is the ONLY way.

"Oh - what will the "international community" do, add another "protest" sticker to the Volvo?"
And what were you proposing? Surely you have a suggesting, otherwise you're simply whining from the sidelines.

Kinda proves my point. The "international community" apparently believes America can't be trusted, or only cares about "goin into countrys where they can steal all a the oil!".
It amuses us to watch you lot beat your chests in indignation about another former British colony that is now a basket case...
So what - the EU is gonna step here?
Russia or China are going to take a principled stance on Burma?
Keep dreamin....

So, while suffering from bad health, a Mormon, goes and gets her put in prison, and disqualified from next year's elections! He said he wanted to "prey with her". About time, action is taken against christian fundamentalists. If he was a Muslim, I bet the world would be up in arms, calling for his death. In the US media, he is a hero.

Just to make it quite clear, the West are heavily compromised as they are helping exploit Myanmar's off-shore oil fields. They need political stability in that area for economic reasons. Greasy hands.
Motto: Never criticize the strongman ot look too closely at what he does to control the people. (Shades of Noriega...)

"Suu Kyi was taken from the ( her ) lakeside home"
That's what I want - a lakeside home.

sarge: "That's what I want - a lakeside home."
One of the most pathetic 'off topic' remarks that I've ever heard. sarge, if you really want to replace Suu Kyi in prison for the next 7 years all the power to you. Of course, you also have to actually be willing to FIGHT for freedom instead of the pretend armchair war you and your chickenhawk buddies have been 'fighting' for years. You do all that, and go and fight in Iraq/Afghanistan (in the wars you have WITHOUT QUESTION supported), and I will personally go help you get the lakeside prison Suu Kyi has.
Just curious.... since you can't say anything bad about Suu Kyi what your addendum to her 'looking at me sideways' will be when you condemn me for you wanting her 'comfortable life'.

Smith - What's taking you so long to rescue Suu Kyi? And don't you want a lakeside home?
