A U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the classified nature of the incident, said the U.S. HAD “absolutely no indication” that the drone was shot down.

Any particular reason why the word 'had' is in upper case letters? Was the US official angry when he made the comment?

This happens all the time and the Iranians, like the Pakistanis will pass on over to the Chinese or Russians so they can have a nice look at this drone, right??

What the heck was a U.S. airplane doing in Iranian airspace?

Unless they had permission, I agree with NeverSubmit - it's clearly a violation of international law.

its operators lost contact with last week while it was flying a mission over neighboring western Afghanistan.

    Translation...

"I don't know what happended. All of the sudden the drone wasn't listing to any of my commands and somehow flew into Iranian airspace and began taking pictures all by itself! I swear, that's what happened."

With what's going on in Pakistan, Afganistan, Syria, Egypt, Israel, Libya combined with Iran, we (NATO, US) are in a deep s**t. I am glad "W" is not in charge in Washington anymore to strike with an ULTIMATUM. We need to be very careful here as the whole area is now ready to explode.

I have to ask what was the US thinking, sending a spy drone over Iran not even a week after a suspicious explosion at a nuclear facility. Are the US trying to start something or are they really just that dumb? Oh well l guess thats another $6 million lost.

I have a feeling the drone just drifted after contact was lost and eventually just lost altitude and eventually scrapped the ground. Explains the minimal damage far better than it having been shot down.

Drones are good, drones are nice, drones help us fight them evil terrorists, and I think they are cool! Too bad this one, well fell or got shot down, hope them Iranians do not pass it over to the Chinese to have it mass produced to the rest of them evil countries around the world, say like to North Korea etc..

I thought it was showing on all news stations soon.

Exactly how many millions of US dollars have been shot down by the Iranians in 2011 alone? Is this cheaper than having to use one of the spy sattelites? Oh! I'm sorry, we don't have a spy sattelite flying over the middle east at this very moment right?
