Iran starts nuclear talks with world powers at U.N.

This is an excellent step for Iran.

Now when are we going to see the US having talks at the UN about their nuclear weapons?

Kerry predicted the meeting would be worthwhile. Asked what he would need to hear from the Iranians to show that they’re serious, he said: “I’ll let you know after they’ve been serious.”

It doesn't matter what Iran says or does, the US will NEVER be satisfied; they will always find some excuse to complain about, and impose sanctions against, Iran. The nuclear issue is only an excuse.

Why so much anger? It's good that the two sides are sitting down and talking again and I'm glad Kerry is the guy handling it.

Short memories anyone? Iran/Ahmadinejad used this stalling tactic three or four times over the past half-dozen years. Meetings are planned, meetings are held, promises are made by Iran, and then, when it comes to UN inspections or other measures of serious accountability, the Iranians back out at the last minute, buying themselves another six months or more to continue making nuclear weapons. It's possible that Rouhani is more sincere than Ahmadinejad, but even so, getting the Ayatollahs on board is an entirely different matter.

I like the President of Iran's comment, that no nation should have nuclear weaponry and that includes Israel & the US. I can well understand why foreign countries want to defend their country. We should be able to use diplomacy when dealing with leaders of foreign countries in lieu of verbal threats. Population might expand that the world won't, so let's try to get along with other people.

You are seriously naive if you think that Iran's new poker face is toning down the rhetoric and REALLY truly wants to sit down, negotiate a peace deal. They are already halfway there and thinking that now all of a sudden taking this pacifist approach will change everything, I hate to break it to you, but it won't, Iran is trying to buy time, Rouhani is a different face, softer tone, but exactly the same message and he doesn't call the shots anyway, the Supreme leader Khamenei does. Smoke and mirrors and as usual, Obama is the one with sucker written all over his face. They are taking advantage of Obama's weakness and frankly, I would too.

Iran usually backs out when the other side makes demands beyond the treaty requirements, They constantly make demands that they know Iran would never accept, and do not need to accept.

Israel is the one "buying time", constantly whining about Iran. And while the world focuses on Iran, Israel continues to secretly build nuclear bombs and placing them on their nuclear submarines.

Glad to see the Iranian leader bringing this hypocrisy to the world's attention.
