"the country’s supreme leader called Saturday for the struggle against the U.S. to continue"

I think the U.S. should have a supreme leader.

Well, we'll see if this is puffery for the gullible, or really is as foolish as it appears.

I vote the former.

Say what you will about Iran's leadership, but one thing cannot be denied:

They are smart. They are careful. And they understand realpolitik.

The US can't tolerate having a nation that is not under their complete control, and they have never accepted the Iranians kicking out the US puppet Shah.

Khamenei's comment refers to a struggle to resist the arrogant US from wanting to control Iran, rather than an evil desire to attack and destroy the US, but I am sure we'll hear the usual "vows to wipe off the map..."

Iran (Persia) is one of the oldest civilizations on Earth with a developed culture and proud history.

Indeed, but we would never get that impression from the MSM.

If he doesn't like the deal he certainly doesn't have to take it, but if this fails then Obama will be able to say that we tried diplomacy, it didn't work, and now it's off the table and the sanctions will be permanent. It also add credibility to the military approach.

Reminds me of a terrible game where two family members would stand apart and each would try to get their dog to come to them "C'mere Iran"...."No, C'mere Iran"....

But this is different. One family member (Putin) is sitting back laughing as the other family member (US) trys to get the dog (Iran) to even stand up and walk. Sometimes dogs are smarter than humans, they know who they can trust and who they can't.

It also add credibility to the military approach.

Why a military approach? First of all, there is no evidence Iran wants nuclear weapons or is trying to make them. The inspections that Iran has agreed to will continue to ensure that.

But are you suggesting that if Iran does build nuclear weapons, then it would be OK to attack it? If so, then it would be at least equally OK to attack other countries that build nuclear weapons.

Eh. Egypt has an even older and prouder history, and look where that got them.

The main difference is that the Iranian revolution was successful at kicking out the US puppet (Shah), Egypt came close but failed. The US has never accepted the Iranians taking back their country, the US has never stopped trying to regain control over Iran.

Egypt came close but failed.

Many people prefer the US stability of the Egyptian military over the unpredictability of Muslim Brotherhood
