Continued sanctions are the best solution. Attacking Iran would have the opposite of the desired effect.

Iran's proposals to world powers useless

This article could have been half decent if it described what these proposals are.

"We will use all elements of American power to prevent Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon"

As far as I know, Iran has made it clear they are not interested in nuclear weapons, and the west has no evidence that they are pursuing it.

But Clinton said the Obama administration was 'in close consultation" with Israel over ways to increase the pressure on Tehran.

Why is the US "in close consultation with" (i.e., receiving orders from) a regime that has not signed the NPT, has secretly built a large nuclear weapons arsenal, and ignores international law in so many ways?

Why indeed? Ask too many questions like that and it's Guantanamo for you, boy/girl!

Ciao, the Iranian government announced they intend on building nuclear submarines. It seems that 'as far as you know' is not nearly far enough.

Why is the US "in close consultation with"

Israel, unlike Iran, has never threatened another country with destruction. Iran supports, trains, arms and finances groups that have as their goal the destruction of another country. Israel has not done this. There is no reason to be blaming Israel for anything involved with this. No reason, that is, unless like you, you have stated that you think the destruction of Israel would be a good thing.

    Why indeed?

Has Israel threatened to destroy another country? Has Israel supported, trained, armed or financed groups that have as their goal the destruction of another country? They have not. The issue is Iran's behavior.

Israel doesn't need to destroy another country. She just prevents the creation of one: Palestine. Until the Israelis learn to treat their Arab neighbours as human beings with equal rights, they will never enjoy peace.

I feel desperately sorry for the Israelis, growing up in an atmosphere of fear and hatred, forced into the army for years when they should be enjoying their youth. Their government, in collaboration with powerful Zionist interests in America, has a lot to answer for.

??? The ones who do not want to negotiate for a real peace are Hamas. They refuse completely. Israel has said it is willing to negotiate. How can you expect the creation of a Palestinian nation (which I support by the way) if the Palestinians are not willing to negotiate? The deal is supposed to be land for peace.

Their government, in collaboration with powerful Zionist interests in America, has a lot to answer for.

I love it when people use the word 'Zionist' as if it is supposed to have some great meaning. It always seems to be code for hating Israel unreasonably and for supporting continued struggles against negotiating with Israel. This has gotten the Palestinians nothing but grief. Iran certainly has done a lot toward making things worse for the Palestinians as well.

I feel desperately sorry for the Israelis

I feel sorry for both sides. The average person on either side just wants to live in peace, work and take care of their family.

At least we can agree on that. Peace :)

That says it all, and that is why the world does NOT need any more "bombs." So I have to agree with the U.S. and Israel on this one, not because it's Iran, but because there are already far too many nukes in the world.

So let's do it the American way and kill, maim and plunder-works every time right?

  • 5

    Ben Jack

    kurisupisu,

I don't see anyone saying that here. I certainly am not. Attacking Iran would be the wrong thing to do. It would also be counterproductive. Sanctions will work and they should be given time to work.

Yes, but perhaps, you never know, they might one day win one!

Then they could enjoy the pride of victory. For a short period of time, anyway. Until China demands repayment on its debts!

Let's be fair, Iran threatens all talk no action, Israel is quiet, screw the threats and when you have Mossad, or rockets missiles upside your head it will be too late, so one just whines and complains and the other kills you off faster than you can say Obama hit Osama and pushed his old ass into the deep blue sea!
