Uh Oh, trouble in paradise.

Donkey - I don't believe Iraq was ever a paradise. At least now it has a freely elected government for the first time in its history.

I thought the security pact was still provisional and subject to a plebiscite at the end of June. If that is still the case, the nearer we get to June, the more damaging any further such incidents will be to the security pact.

Sarge,
Those "free" elections come to you courtesy of an American occupation of Iraq. Iraq will have its first truly free election only after the Americans leave.

I am glad that we have a time table to get out of there. If goooood ole McCain and his girl Palin would have won this would most likely have turned into that 100 year occupation McCain talked about.

Face it Joe, the US is never leaving and so strong, it can operate beyond any law. If the Iraqis don't like it they can sue, bwa ha ha.

I think that what we have seen is that the US is not so strong that it can unilaterally enforce its will. That has been shown in every major conflict since World War 2.
The US is strong enough to remain in Iraq against the will and law of Iraqis at present, but it cannot sustain that effort without the cooperation of the Iraqi government and people. Absent a clear vision of what we are trying to achieve in Iraq, the prognosis for permanence is not very good.

And what fine, solid democratic institutions Iraq has. The reason why the US is cautious regarding the information it shares with the Iraqi Government is that the Iraqi Government has all the stability of the former Government of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam). Namely, even the Iraqis in power cannot be trusted to keep information in confidence. What a joke.

Even if they have done wrong, the US are never going to hand over any of their servicemembers to be subject to a foreign court, you would imagine.

Any upswing in violence is directly related to Obama’s adjustments in troop numbers and the policy of appeasement he outlined in his recent trips to Europe, the ME and S America. Unfortunately for the rubes back home who voted for him the speeches he delivered abroad, calling for things like a nuke free world (OK, only he and his unicorn can see at this point - but you have to believe...) are not posted on his change gov website.

Bbbbut .... Obama's keeping 50,000-plus troops behind after combat troops are withdrawn. Sure sounds like occupatiuon force numbers here in Houston.

Strewth, nmore American crimes aagainst humanity. Haven't the Iraqi innocents suffered enough? I notice they try to cover up their crimes quick enough. Bloody oitragous, they're a law unto themselves. Destroyed that country and now commit crimes like this. And they call themselves liberators, beyond belief!!

That was the only plan, it comes in stages. I know I know this is something new...Have a President with a plan but we have one. I know the Republicans like to wing it and go with whatever numbers pops into their heads. But as we have seen that just does not work...
We all knew we needed to keep troops in the area. No not to act as police officers as they are doing right now. But as a strike force to prevent our dear friends from around the region from moving against the Iraqis.
Yes I know many will be disappointed on the left, but this is the price will have to pay until Iraq becomes more stable. Bush did not have an exit strategy but President Obama does.
It is hell the price we must pay for this Republican fat cat war. Hope we can leave completely before his terms are up.

"The US is never leaving"
Yes we are. Thanks to Bush, and, incredibly, Obama, we'll leave a free Iraq.

Forget Iraq, pull out our troops and let them go to hell in a hand basket.

They'll go to hell. It's called Afghanistan at the moment. Let them do good taking out the guys setting IEDs and blowing up people with suicide bombs. Those kinds of ballots are not needed.

I look forward to the UN calling for Obama to be brought up on war crimes charges for this outrageous crime against the people of Iraq.

Wolfpack,
Sarcasm wears thin. However, call for Bush, Cheney and company to be indicted along with Obama and I'll gladly join you.
