"Al-Dabbagh said al-Maliki’s views were “misunderstood and mistranslated” by Der Spiegel and that that al-Maliki had been under intense pressure from high ranking officials within the Bush Administration to state a view that was counter to that of the Obama campaign."

Mark it here please: If Obama gets elected and he does stick to his 16 month plan, I will buy everyone here a drink of their choice.
If he does get elected, and doesn't stick to his 16 month plan, everyone owes me a beverage.
What I think will happen if he is elected, there will be a cooling off period in Iraq, troops will depart, and 16 months from Jan 2009 (May 2010) we will see the last helicopter flying from the roof of the American Embassy ala Siagon 1975. And Obama will somehow say that it was all GWB's fault.
Can you imagine the phone call between Washington and Baghdad the other day when Al-Maliki starts this "time frame for possible U.S. troops withdrawals". I bet george bush was going berserk.
Now we have speakers for Al-Maliki saying, "misunderstood and mistranslated".
Snicker, I wish I had been a fly on the wall in Al-Maliki's office. It would have been too hot to be in the Oval Office. < :-)
the Iraqi people need to work out there differences if they are to be a country. This has nothing to do with US. If a civil war needs to take place -then so be it.
-this country should have flipped in a week. This property is bleeding America's bank account dry.
Sone goes for America's forces in Japan. JSDF must learn to hold their own and Japan must work out their problems with others.

Sushi, like Sarge asked, where'd you get this quote?

It doesn't matter if the Iraqis don't back Obama's plan. Obama will have all the troops out 16 months after he takes office.

Sarge - "It doesn't matter if the Iraqis don't back Obama's plan. Obama will have all the troops out 16 months after he takes office."
And America will be all the better off for it.
It's only the Reality Dead-Enders who can't see that staying in Iraq is a basketcase strategy.

The failure in Iraq to date IS all GWB and his mindless buddys' fault.
It's only the vacant-minded Reality Dead Enders who can't see it.
