Iraq justice going up by release of show thrower. Way to go Iraq. Hope for the best justice to come out from Iraq, in future.

Anyway, the man was tortured as was suspected and which many of the right denied was possible. He's out and free now, though, and will get the heroes welcome he rightly deserves for his actions.

I agree with Jbizzle though in saying bush did show some quickness in dodging the shoes -- but as someone who also dodged any war but wanted to be known as the war president, dodging ought to be considered a specialty. :)

Arabs brought down the Twin Towers, but Bush reduced them to this: throwing shoes at press conferences. Bush is the best!

Sweets were handed to the two dozen reporters present and glasses of sweetened fruit drinks were given to motorists outside. Sheep were slaughtered in his honor and children wore their best clothes, with little girls in satin and lace dresses and boys in dark suits.

What, no beer? This does not sound like a real party at all. They also never let us know whether he got the shoes back. They belong in the Bush Museum.

I really want to believe the bit about torture but that would be an admission that Iraq has a free press and isn't controlled by the US State Dept.

It would have been beautiful to see Dubya get whacked by those shoes. I guess it proves that quickness is inversely related to brain size. Al-Zeidi should indeed run for PM of Iraq.

You mean 'WAS' tortured. This isn't the subjunctive mode you're talking about. Regardless, the torture of another human being in a country that claims to be democratic and above that kind of thing is just plain wrong, particularly when they vehemently denied it after.

Muntadhar al-Zeidi’s actions, while understandable, were criminal in behavior and also broke the first rule of journalism (report the story; don't become it).

No one should be tortured, ever, no matter what dick cheney says, but he had to expect being arrested for trying to assault a head of state.
