Israel has barred foreign journalists from entering the Gaza Strip for a week, in a move media have assailed as a serious violation of press freedom.

Well, this is always better than their usual shooting journalists in the head.

Israeli military spokesman Peter Lerner said the restrictions were imposed because Palestinian militants have resumed their rocket fire from Gaza, in violation of a 5-month-old truce

They forgot to mention that before this truce violation, the Israelis committed several violations.

The only people allowed to enter and leave Gaza under the policy are international aid workers and Palestinian patients seeking medical treatment outside the territory, he said.

Yes, those patients lucky enough to not be left dying while held up at the check points.

“It is absolutely essential that international journalists be allowed to enter the territory and deliver their news reports to Israel and the rest of the world,”

The last thing the Israelis want is for the world to know how badly the Israelis have been abusing the Palestinians. Its a shame that the world continues to endure this abuse.

I applaud Israel for protecting it's citizens! America would never be allowed to take this action.

Shameful behavior. If what you are doing is not evil then let the light shine on your actions. I hope journalists can get in through Egypt.

Isreali hopes for the Palestinian is death and starvation. The people living in Gaza are being blocked from receiving the basics of needs.

Yeah, Isreal is such a good neighbor. < :-)

Why does the world in this day and age tolerate such a small useless country ??

Israel is no doubt committing crimes against humanity and does not want the world to see it.

Is this Gaza or Isreal you're talking about? < :-)

All of you are either not informed enough on what has really been happening in Israel/Gaza or either choose to be ignorant on this subject. Everyone wants to blame Israel when they take measures to defend itself!

Hamas has constantly fired rockets to Israel 5 months ago when they made a truce. Israel kept their part of allowing fuel aid, food, concrete and the list goes on. Hamas on the other hand only needed to store his rockets. But big Hamas kept on sending rockets to Israel for no reason! and Israel like a good dork that they are took many fire rockets before taking action because they vainly relied on Hamas on stopping the rockets.

For crying out loud people, stop blaming Israel just because they wanted to defend themselves!

    Molenir

Wouldn't it be great if a bunch of these Hamas idiots moved to another country and tried what they're doing there. Yeah, I'm sure everyone would be supportive if you were getting rockets fired at you. Please, tell us again how Israel is to blame for trying to survive amidst hostiles on every side.

I didn't here that Hamas just fired rocket after rocket and Isreal just took it. Isreal started the rockets, but Hamas gets blamed. Isreal didn't fire any, huh?

Isreal got $30Billion from the US under george bush to buy more rockets and weapons to kill more women and children in Gaza. < :-)

If the 30 mil had of gone to Hamas do you really think the citizens of Palestine would have been fed? That is just a day dream for the Palestine people who suffer daily under the corruption, terror, and power plays within their own struggle. Wake up day dreamer.

    adaydream

Take away that 30Mil, make the playing field a little fairer. Then it would be Isreal crying how their being mistreated.

Does Palestine have helicopters and jets? Looks like the playing field has been tilted so far to the Isrealis side that Palestine is just trying to survive.

So when the U. S. starts selling and giving weapons to Palestine like they do for Isreal, then it'll be equal and Isreal would be whining like some republicans here on JT after McCain lost. < :-)

    Adaydream..

"I didn't here that Hamas just fired rocket after rocket and Isreal just took it. Isreal started the rockets, but Hamas gets blamed. Isreal didn't fire any, huh?"

Your statement here just made me laugh, I am not even going to spend my valuable time refuting this baseless argument that your are bringing up.

"Does Palestine have helicopters and jets? Looks like the playing field has been tilted so far to the Isrealis side that Palestine is just trying to survive."

First of all, you are forgetting that the USA also pledged money to Palestine as well.

500 Million Dollars out of the 5.6 Billion dollars that was pledged to Palestine from the USA and more money is to be given to Palestine from other countries around the world. Now really, what is Palestine doing with that money?... romulus3 makes more sense of what he is saying rather than your inability to logically make sense by adopting the straw man tactic making factual evidence is missing in reality.

By the way, it is spelled "Israel" not Isreal...

If Israel doesn't have anything to hide, they don't need to ban the foreign journalists. Indeed, Israel is a useless country, but the wealthy jew people from all over the world want to keep their roots somewhere. Especially the zionists. And the situation in the middle East won't change so soon, as I know that Obama is endorsed by the jewish lobby to be elected. Israel still can dictat the american ME policy for some time... I have nothing against the jewish pople, but I disagree with the Israeli government for what they do to the neihbour countries. Unfortunately, Jewish community has a big influence in the western countries' politics.

I think it's pretty fair. $30Billion to Isreal and 500 Mil to Palestine. Sounds like a fair give away.

Now if we were to give Palestine $100Billion and don't give them a way to get these purchases in, what the hell does the money mean? < :-)

Well, this is always better than their usual shooting journalists in the head.

Proof please of journalists being shot in the head being 'usual', please.

They forgot to mention that before this truce violation, the Israelis committed several violations.

You forgot to mention that both sides have violated various truces.

Yes, those patients lucky enough to not be left dying while held up at the check points.

If the hospitals and checkpoints were not at times used at targets for violence, the checkpoints might move faster. If fact, they used to...

The last thing the Israelis want is for the world to know how badly the Israelis have been abusing the Palestinians. Its a shame that the world continues to endure this abuse.

I think it is fascinating that you have no problem with Japanese occupation of Asian countries, yet you protest Israeli occupation. Anyway, both sides have and continue to abuse each other. Both sides need to stop.

Take away that 30Mil, make the playing field a little fairer." Ok, how about the 1.9Billion Muslims in the world who are against the existence of Jews (they were killing them before Israel was created) not take a side too? The US is not 100% behind Israel but 100% Muslims are against them. Can't they have one friend? The Palestinians and Hamas have many friends stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific to the North Pole to South Africa and you are talking about making the playing field fairer? And what about when Israel had nothing, weren't you alive then? Did you support this under dog then?

How about such a tiny piece of land be allowed to exist without conflict?

The liberal press has become just another mouthpiece for the Muslim Arab terrorists. BBC might as well call itself Al Jazeera at this point. Good for Israel for clamping down on this extension of the "Palestinian" propaganda war. Too many gullible first-world socialists like adaydream buy into this stuff.

Helter_Skelter - There you go again with liberal press. The press is owned by ultra-rich conservatives the likes of Ted Turner and Rupard Murdock.

This just happens to have a liberal or two posting here. I bet you'd love to see all the liberals gone, huh? Then you'd have no one to cry to. < :-)

There you go again with liberal press.

Geez adaydream. You may very well be the only person left still arguing the MSM isn't liberally biased.

I bet you'd love to see all the liberals gone, huh?

All but the really cute female ones. < :-)

If Israel doesn't have anything to hide, they don't need to ban the foreign journalists." Not true. Even JT'ers, and perhaps you too, have accused the media of distorting facts, for example, if a Hoax is performed, the media hardly ever goes back to the story and admits it being duped. One of the reasons I would never let reporters in my house these days.

Not siding with Israel on this, but your statement makes it sound like you have blind faith in the news media, yet at the same time discrediting them..

No, I don't blame Israel for, perhaps, making sure what news that is to be reported isn't bull.

The press is owned by ultra-rich conservatives the likes of Ted Turner and Rupard Murdock.

I don't think Turner owns much anymore, does he? But it sure as hell is not owned by Muslims, or Christians, or Hindus, or Buddhists,.... If only Muslims started owning some western media, maybe people would get a clue as to what is happening in the Middle East.

If sabiwabi's post about how many religions (of course it is obvious that he neglects one specific religion) supposedly DON'T own western media is considered relavant, then it stands to reason correcting his post would also be relavant.

I don't think Turner owns much anymore, does he? But it sure as hell is not owned by Muslims, or Christians, or Hindus, or Buddhists,.... If only Muslims started owning some western media, maybe people would get a clue as to what is happening in the Middle East.

Hmmm...singling out one particular religion again in order to attempt to spread hate against it those who practice it, huh? I guess it never gets tiring for you. BTW, Rupert Murdoch is most certainly Christian, since that kind of thing is so important to you and he indeed does own an outlet of the western media. You really need to get out more...

If the issue of Israel blocking media from Gaza were religiously based as you are obviously claiming, then it would stand to reason the western media would be welcomed with open arms, not turned away. Your argument doesn't even make any sense even in the fantasy world in which your argument is created.
