Israel is afraid they will be forced to be nice to the Palestinians. And heaven forbid that. They have no intent to be friends, ever. < :-)

Ridiculous. Israel would like nothing better than to live in peace in the neighbourhood. Only the muslim Arabs ("the Palestinians" as they are cleverly called now) have no such intent.

The "conditions" that are routinely put forward by the muslim Arab side alway amount to a death sentence to Israel. And that is the only condition acceptable to the muslim Arab side.

Nothing new here.

Palestinians built East Jerusalem so this got to be their capital, they already lost half of their capital so this is reasonable for both. Israel needs to be nice to Palestinian Arabs because it was their home country, their native land. Just as Americans and others need to be nice to the native Americans and so on. This is the just thing to do. On the other hand, Palestinians need to face reality, they will not be able to return to pre-Palestine 1948. This is just how it is. When they come to terms with this reality and when Israel stops treating Palestinians like rats in a cage will there be peace and this region can once again be prosperous. I myself have Lebanese roots and been to Middle East plenty of times. Never to Israel but Palestine. People are pragmatic. But Israel now wants to cleanse Arabs from their land. Making life impossible for farmers, traders, building separation walls while framing it on terrorism. People who can think know that terrorism is used as a pretext to carry on their daily racist crime, oppression, segregation. Israel is a racist state carrying out apartheid. If a Palestinian wants to export olives why is it that Israel bans a Palestinian from doing this? Instead bulldozes down the olive tree and builds a highway surrounded by a 10 meter wall? Americans with their mutated nationalistic fundamentalist bible is puzzling original Christians in the Middle East.

Er, I think the Caanites built Jerusalem. They were evicted by the ancient Hebrews who were replaced by a dozen or so other subsequent conquerers (Babylonians, Romans Crusaders, etc.), all of whom destroyed and rebuilt the city in turns.
