Why must Isreal pull these dumbass games?

We were having a good day, Palistine and Isreal were working together and I thought they were doing okay. Then Isreal has to pull this crap.

And, John McCain and Barack have both kissed Isreal's ass these past few speaches. "We are behind you no matter what."

So now they take advantage of a moment. < :-)

    This does not seem helpful.

I fully support Israel's right to exist and to ensure the security of their people, but I'm always disappointed when they build a new settlement or extend the security fence.

I fully support Palestine's right to exist and to ensure the security of their people on their land. What helps to make things difficult for them is the bias in how things are reported. I'm sure that if a country like Iran would have pulled something like this, the headline would read more like "Iran defies the UN...", "Iran continues do build on stolen land"; but instead with Israel they provide headlines that actually gives them a shred of legitimacy, which is not deserved.

I am neither pro-israel and neither pro-palestine. Said that we had PLO bombings in my home-town on Israeli businesses, very large israeli community.

Said that the Palestinians(ie residents not militants) are on the short end of the stick.

They can't get to their jobs within Israel, can't get medical aid(ambulances delayed at check-points for hours), can't get stock for their shops, etc.

In short the average palestinian is at the mercy of the Israel, which don't make me wonder why they lob rockets(only thing they got). Yet Israel retaliates with military incursion, air-strikes, bull-dozing of buildings, etc.

IMHO, Israel been playing the victim card too long and gotten too much support both military and financial from overseas countries(none named).

Yet, Palestine has a population of 1.5 mill and Israel of 6 mill(I think way more israeli live outside the country).

Just given the facts that Israel has more power(nukes) and backing from overseas I think people are biased towards palestine.

I don't blame Israel they are trying to survive like the guys in palestine do. Yet they got people from the outside pushing their cause. Which, IMHO, is the same as cuba, whatever.

No one listens to the guys on the ground.

    From wikipedia:

"The total Palestinian population worldwide is estimated to be between 10 and 11 million people, over half of whom are stateless, lacking citizenship in any country. Palestinians are predominantly Sunni Muslims, though there is a significant Christian minority as well as smaller religious communities."

"Roughly half of all Palestinians continue to live in Israel, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. The other half, many of whom are refugees, live elsewhere in different places throughout the world."

stupid move. Who the hell would want to live in those places anyway, given the way the are acquired.

  • skipthesong at 06:09 PM JST - 25th July

Has anyone found a link or any lit on the reason behind this recent grab?

I am a supporter of Israel as it is and will debate the 67 borders issue, but they lose me on their land grabs, especially if it is for religious purposes.

What are they going to do? They just can't move to Virginia or anywhere else and the populas suffers from things they have "NO" control of.

I just pray for their future. < :-)

Two types. First, the religious fanatics. They'd live naked over an anthill if it would please their oni. Second, people looking for cheaper housing.

Regardless, just be grateful they aren't immigrating to where you live.

This would seem to be one reason why nobody takes the "land for peace" policy seriously except, perhaps, American newspapers and politicians.

As long as they are legal immigrants, I don't care who lives next to me. Why would I take exception? Or you matter of fact? < :-)

bebert - Regardless, just be grateful they aren't immigrating to where you live." I don't want to come up racist, but I would prefer any overly religous types living near me. However, in the case of Jews, they usually keep to themselves and don't get into the politics of the area - like not allowing Christmas decorations, non-Kosher establishments...

What? The Jewish lobby, is one of the most influential in the US. It's the main reason the US is such a staunch supporter of Israel.

Good. The Israelis will do something productive with the land, something the Muslim Arabs have been incapable of doing for the last thousand years.
