Berlusconi is the worst possible leader for Italy right now. Preoccupied with his own corruption you have to wonder what his priorities are, really.

We can blame it all on Berlusconi but come on, from Napole to Roma, we all know there is too much corruption, and now it is coming to light, just like in Greece, Spain, Ireland etc..time for real deep self refection.

I have a suspicion those Northern Europeans are rapidly becoming fed-up with their southern relatives in Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal etc. Italy is a massive economy - let's just hope it doesn't go down...

The Euro currency debacle is finally hitting the fan.
This was all predicted by the Euro critics from the start, and it has been unavoidable.
The sooner the Euro breaks up, the better (or rather, the less bad). Everybody will suffer from this.
The only question is, how leaves first? Germany, or a PIIG country, and which one? The playbook will be different, depending on that.

This won't bring any short or mid-term savings, so independent from whether it will become necessary or not, it doesn't make sense to link raising the pension age to the current debt crisis. It was Merkel with her back and forth who severely aggravated the greek problems. Now what kind of games does she want to play with Italy?

Italy is too big to bail out. Even Germany can not do that. Now if the ECB now goes full throttle on monetizing, they will trash the Euro for everybody. That will be the point when German electorate wakes up and rebels.
Allan Greenspan says its game over for the Euro now: http://www.cnbc.com/id/45033013
