Until we develop the ability to look directly at peoples memories and thoughts these situations will continue to arise and i agree they can't be locked up just to make someone else feel better if they convict based on shaky evidence they're little better than dictators that lock people up without trial. On the plus side that may not be too far away since technology to do just that is starting to come around although only in it's early stages. p.s. i'm not saying that they're guilty or that they're innocent just that they can't lock them up unless they can prove that prison is where they belong.

"... the judge said that “maybe the two defendants also know” what really happened."

"Certainly Rudy Guede” knows, he said. “I won’t say he’s the only one to know,” the judge added."

“I felt emotion because they are two young people who suffered, justly or unjustly. I repeat, we can never say with certainty,” he said."

Maybe the defendants know? Guede knows what happened? Justly or unjustly? This guy certainly doesn't sound like a judge. He makes one innuendo after another. I hope this whole affair is representative of Italian justice.

    ...and she may not.

Erm, thanks for that bit of useless information, judge.

The guy is covering himself. They may be guilty, but there is nothing that he can do about it, legally.

On the strength of the evidence the court cannot convict.

The true story is still in there and one or all of those three know it.

One day I hope we get to hear what really happened.

"Brain scans can detect when someone is lying", University of Pennsylvania experts say the method could be superior to existing lie-detection systems.

Meanwhile a girl has died and one or all of these three know why. Who, or what, are they protecting, and why? What is Rudy Guede so afraid of that he wont name names? Something very odd about all of this.

To add "meanwhile a girl has died...her family will never know peace of mind..."

Let it go Italy. Your justice system failed miserably by allowing the prosecutor to turn this into a side-show based on character asssination, rather than hard evidence. And then, when embarrassed by independent experts hired by the court, they simply turned up the level of nonsense. Turn your attention towards the prosecutor and your system that allowed this to happen, not Amanda Knox. Becuase if she was guilty, it is your fault she walked, not her's.
