Ironic. Since Cruz has little chance to win the general, and Trump has none, Kasich is actually the most dangerous of the lot.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Trump has no chance??? Look at the crowds he draws? Can you play a mean pinball?

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

Republicans chose darkness for the last 40+ years. The GOP should be classified as a hate group, not s political party.

8 ( +14 / -6 )

He lashed out at Trump proposals to deport 11 million illegal immigrants and impose protectionist trade policies. He ridiculed Cruz’s idea for a business flat tax, calling it a value-added tax. These are examples of a path of darkness, he said.

“Some who feed off of the fears and anger that is felt by some of us and exploit it feed their own insatiable desire for fame or attention. That could drive America down into a ditch, not make us great again,” Kasich said

The GOP/Tea continues with the meltdown.

Angry racists and zealots control the table and nice Mr. Kasich wants to play the voice of reason.

The GOP/Tea bet on anger in the intravenous bag from FOXNews and that's what fueled Trump's 'birther' racism and Cruz's false prophet gambit.

Besides dragging the GOP/Tea through a manhood forest and ugly wife contest, there's little to show the Republicans can redefine anything they believe in or hold as important as their own power.

Kasich has his appeal but the thumpers, bible and Trumpers, control the Party and America is weaker for it.

Look at the crowds he draws? Can you play a mean pinball?

It's doubtful that crowds of wicked uncle Ernies, those in your imagined community, constitute a majority. Trump the elitist has got his lapdogs in the MSM blaring messages of fear and hate which have attracted hordes of angry and disenfranchised US Americans who want to believe the reality TV star and businessman, a man who bankrupted casinos and is infamous for bait and switch tactics, will save them.

Kasich says Trump, Cruz will lead U.S. down 'path of darkness'

Well, it isn't exactly going toward the light even without Trump and Cruz.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

It's doubtful that crowds of wicked uncle Ernies,

I see what you did there. Turning the tables. So Trump controls the MSM eh? Please come back when you have better comedic material.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

How he can possibly know the future is beyond me.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Trump has no chance??? Look at the crowds he draws?

Depending on the poll, he is unfavorable to 60%-70% of the population.

Pretty hard to get elected when well over half the people dislike you.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

@Strangerland,

Of course. The assault and lies being played against him is ridiculous. Just brainwashing.

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

Japan's view of the US elections... hmm.

Go Kasich!

He gave this speech this morning at a private club that I belong to, located in midtown Manhattan, where last night I met my first choice of the pack - which was Senator Rand Paul.

An informal video or his talk can be seen here: https://youtu.be/o8mi0eQ1kXo

The club was first formed by Women Suffragettes in the 1920's: http://www.wnrc.org/web/pages/about To those fellow Republicans in Japan reading this, keep your chin up! To the handful of folks who seem to be filled with vinegar over Republicanism, take two bromoseltzers...

My girlfriend in Shinjuku really can't stand Trump, who many long time Republicans do not even count as being a real Republican; he's just a disaffected right wing isolationist democrat.

Here's how I, as a long time Republican, have viewed current events:

Imagine being a passenger waiting for the boarding call to get on your flight. In walks in the crew all nicely dressed and smiling. Then a couple pilots arrive brusquely. There's something wrong. They start shouting at each other, one throws a roundhouse punch, another chucks an overnight bag at a steward, and then two pilots get each other into a headlock. And you are in the airport terminal waiting room, expecting to go somewhere. Thus, we have, the Republican primaries.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Vote Kasich: for a path to an America at least 7-8% less dark than that on offer from Cruz or Trump.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Of course. The assault and lies being played against him is ridiculous. Just brainwashing.

Assault? Someone has been beating him up?

And lies? No one needs to lie - his own words show him for who he is and what he thinks. His words are bad enough that there is no need to make stuff up about him - the truth is damning in and of itself. Combine that with his lack of substance when it comes to actually showing a plan on anything, and his constant waffling on numbers (remember when he said the wall would be $4 billion, then he said it would be $6 billion, then $10 billion?), the guy is worthless. It's almost surprising he can even run a corporation effectively, although in a corporation you're directly paying people for their loyalty and silence, rather than having to earn it, so it's not the same.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

@Jay Que,

Long time Republicans have destroyed the country and are corrupt. Right wing isolationist democrat??? Trump hasn`t caused the major issues that exist in the US today. Need facts not sound bites.

"Vote Kasich: for a path to an America at least 7-8% less dark" - comments

Isn't this the GOP/Tea social engineering agenda?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

What the polls show and the results in the primaries thus far do show discontent on both sides of the parties.

Trump is extreme with his "campaign promises".

Sanders is extreme with his "campaign promises".

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Amusing coming from a guy who would force raped women to have their rapist's baby. What a true farce these despicable people are

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Has trump said a raped woman will be forced to give birth? No, he hasn't! Stop lying. Just like the MSM...fabrications abound and the sheep follow.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

Kasich survived by not lieing. .

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Kasich survived by not lieing. .

Barely survived.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Has trump said a raped woman will be forced to give birth? No, he hasn't! Stop lying.

Who claimed that Trump said that?

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Trump has no chance??? Look at the crowds he draws? Can you play a mean pinball?

Don't think he's uncle Ernie or Tommy, but with a tongue like his, he should be the Acid Queen. (As in acidic, not the drug!) And I do believe We're Not Gonna Take It, should he take the world down a path of darkness.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The GOP is clearly the dark side of the FORCE!!

In fact I think the next Star Wars flick could use the GOP & Dems "leadership" races & turn it into a Star Wars flick!

Star Wars XX : Rise of the GOP Menace!

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Wholeheartedly believe both those individuals would bring nothing but religious instability, ethnocentrism, jingoism and any other negative ism.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

So will the GOP choose a candidate by throwing out the primary votes? Republicans/independent conservatives here don't seem to want to touch that question.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

He ridiculed Cruz’s idea for a business flat tax, calling it a value-added tax. These are examples of a path of darkness, he said.

I thought Kasich sounded like he had a clue until I read this.

Cruz (like Trump and Sanders and Clinton) is otherwise unacceptable but his tax plan at least had a semblance of sense about it.

No hope of a good outcome from this year's presidential election.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Republicans had 2.5 years to come up with at least one decent candidate, and they failed. Instead they are left with blokes who belong in another century (and quite frankly world). The choice should never ever be between plague and cholera (and gonorrhea). They messed it up.

None of those 3 can federate and be accepted by the vast majority, even in a country like the us. Republicans are not or should not cater for anti abortion, pro nra etc supporters ONLY. If you dont sympathise with those groups you just can't vote for any of those guys. The GOP has niched itself.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Ahhh. Kasic. The "sane" candidate from the Insane party. No wonder the inmates don't like him.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Leading the Republican Party FURTHER into darkness, yes, but the nation? No, because they would never be elected.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

"Path of darkness"? Let's compare a quote from Conrad's Heart of Darkness to the current Republican Party:

He struggled with himself, too. I saw it -- I heard it. I saw the inconceivable mystery of a soul that knew no restraint, no faith, and no fear, yet struggling blindly with itself.

Oh, the horror! The horror! - as we penetrate deeper into the heart of darkness.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

it's amazing the transformation kasich has gone through. in ohio, he's known as the cantankerous and ornery old man who can't get along with anyone. now he's the compassionate conservative who hugs people during campaign events.

but other than that, he is delusional that his brand of conservatism is wanted this election year. the GOP is looking for someone outside the mainstream, of which kasich has been a part of for over 20 years. he's also for common core and for allowing immigrants to stay, which are both anathema this year. more importantly, he's only won 1 state so far! so why in the world does he think he can pull off the nomination? another bizarro candidate from the right.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Republicans trashing Republicans. And then we have Trump trashing everyone. Cool! Hello Hillary or Obama (If third terms were allowed). Other than KKK, white supremacists, or hateful Bundies who tried to take on the BLM and lost badly, who would actually vote for Trump?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I would.

Confusion will be your epitaph.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Kasich is no Nurse Ratched.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

"I would.

Confusion will be your epitaph"

Please explain why you would vote for Trump since I am "confused" and you claim to know a lot more than I do.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

"Trump, Cruz will lead U.S. down 'path of darkness'"

What about Hillary? She'll lead us to the path of light?

"Kasich is actually the most dangerous of the lot."

Really! How?

"Cruz (like Trump and Sanders and Clinton) is otherwise unacceptable"

How is Sanders unacceptable? He makes too much sense?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Has trump said a raped woman will be forced to give birth?

He did say that Mexicans are a bunch of Rapists.

Can Trump count on the hispanic vote?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The path of darkness? You mean having a Government NOT full of traitors? You mean a Government who's people DON'T insider trade off the back of the American public? A Government who is actually for and by the people? That kind of darkness you traitor?!

"So will the GOP choose a candidate by throwing out the primary votes?" - comments

After the first ballot ends in no endorsement the Convention is openly voted or privately brokered.

The direction of the GOP/Tea isn't a "democratic" exercise.

Powerful forces are debating the candidate choice for purely competitive purposes and campaign strategy.

Trump tarred his own brand with the bigot trick,

Cruz is still hated for his twenty-six billion dollar government shutdown.

Kasich is playing for third, and his dignity.

Too bad he's in the minority of the GOP/Tea.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The only Trump supporters that make sense are the Russian contributors like Fizz. And that's only because they want to see him destroy the US.

Sadly, his candidacy is nothing but an international embarrassment. He's giving the insane party that final, terminal push off the cliff.

Trump is the most unpopular candidate since polls began. It's a magnificent spectacle to behold.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

The GOP is clearly the dark side of the FORCE!! In fact I think the next Star Wars flick could use the GOP & Dems "leadership" races & turn it into a Star Wars flick! Star Wars XX : Rise of the GOP Menace!

Darth Cruz, Darth Kasich, Darth Trump will try to become the next empirical Sith lord to expand the GOP(Galactic Ominipotence Politburo) empire to control the galaxy! Amazing how fitting those titles fit them XD.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

When all you do is whip up anger and resentment in people over perceived slights as the partisan media does in the U.S. (it happens on both sides of politics), then you can't complain when those chickens come home to roost (or roast?). The GOP/Fox craziness is reaping what it's sown. Personally, I think George W. Bush was one of the worst presidents the U.S. has ever had, but biting back that bias, I thought Jeb Bush was actually one of the most coherent and sane candidates put forward. Kasich makes a very good point. Sanity will only prevail when people look past the endless rhetoric and start looking at the actual facts. Not the "facts" as presented by your favourite leftist/right wing media propaganda machines, but actual, sane facts...

...sigh... clearly I'm living in some sort of dreamworld...

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I thought Jeb Bush was actually one of the most coherent and sane candidates put forward.

...caveat that to the candidates the GOP offers and I'd agree - but it's still only marginally worse than being poisoned or shot. Policies are what matter, not personalities.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Gov. Kasich should have run as a democrat. He's just another "cheap labor" shill for the corporate interests, which is partly why he's gotten limited support from republicans. He would have been Mrs. Bill Clinton's ideal running mate; both of them are Wall Street/corporate lackeys.

On the morning of 4-27, Sen. Cruz will be a mathematical impossibility to secure The Magic Number. At that point, people aren't going to vote for a guy who has no chance of securing the nomination. As a non-partisan, independent voter, it will be interesting to read how/if the pundits within the LSM and the GOP will address this. . .

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Trump is the most unpopular candidate since polls began. It's a magnificent spectacle to behold.

. . . . Obama said it would be "the hunger games" and he was right. Its still very entertaining. Everyone go out & purchase some more popcorn. Heck, even Sanders has some momentum.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Kasich had been lecturing how great he was an Ohio Governor that People and other candidates ignored him.

Now he thinks he may be elected in protested convention that has a new slogan Dump Trump.

But, as NY people support him and anti-Trump crowds are causing problems near Trump building, he probably has no problem to increase more NY supporters.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I thought Jeb Bush was actually one of the most coherent and sane candidates put forward. ...caveat that to the candidates the GOP offers and I'd agree

Actually, I thought Jeb was coherent and sane in a universal sense... of course, this meant that he was one of the first booted out the door... I think that says a lot about this whole election campaign...

"These are examples of a path of darkness, he said."

They aren't nearly as bad as the hellish path Bush Junior led Amercia down: 9/11, the worst economic disaster in living memory and two distant, pointless and yet expensive wars that will continue forever. Thanks, George!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Well, it isn't exactly going toward the light even without Trump and Cruz.

And it won't even come near the sun with Hillary. Kasich is the last person to talk. He's not going to get the nomination and if he doesn't get it, he will soon enough. Kasich is a joke and as to why he's still in this race is just wasting his and everyone else's time.

They aren't nearly as bad as the hellish path Bush Junior led Amercia down: 9/11, the worst economic disaster in living memory and two distant, pointless and yet expensive wars that will continue forever. Thanks, George!

And Hillary wants to give us more of the same what Obama and his minions have given us over the last 7 years and then after he leaves, the country will be in an even more dire strait condition with bigger debt, more people on food stamps, more people that have canceled healthcare insurance, a more divided country, racial division and corporations leaving the country, the borrowing has increased as well as the deficit, radical Islam is through the roof, terrorism on the rise, we have now one of the weakest militaries now, open borders, illegals allowed to break the laws and are rewarded with licenses and allowed to receive entitlements. Thanks Obama, his departure in November can't come soon enough.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Latest Rumor ... Marco Rubio will jpin Cruz as he has delegates. VP. Others joined to Rubio will not be VP choice.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

As a non-partisan, independent voter

I know Republicans shy away from calling themselves Republicans, but has it really gone this far? Pretty soon you guys will be describing yourselves as "adult human beings with the ability to vote in America."

1 ( +3 / -2 )

And Hillary wants to give us more of the same what Obama and his minions have given us over the last 7 years

No problem Obama's approval rate is up. Lots of people are happy with him. He could win a third term, in fact. Will you still stay out of the USA if Clinton wins?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Kasich says Trump, Cruz will lead U.S. down 'path of darkness'

Like a $19 trillion debt and a declining middle class. Or how about a completely polarized nation with race relations the worst it has been in 50 years. That path of darkness?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Or how about a completely polarized nation with race relations the worst it has been in 50 years. That path of darkness?

Nah, not likely. Neither Trump nor Cruz is black, so that self-hatred towards one's own president for being black won't be there.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

It will come down to Trump and Hilary. The question will be, which one Americans can stomach the most - belligerent, loud-mouth buffoon or shrill, angry drama queen.

If only Obama could run again...
