“The new challenge that we face is securing and aiding for the recovery of a liberated area.”

This quote is euphemism for 'make the area safe for US resource extractors and their international corporate counterparts.'

The US needs to send its troops back to the US, secure its own border, find more and better alternatives to burning hydrocarbons for generating electricity and powering vehicles, and develop materials that don't require invading sovereign nations to get their resources.

Funny thing, it was safe 8 years ago. Who broke that?

I'm curious about something. For any american, seriously, don't you think the blame falls squarely on your shoulders for voting for the war administration twice?? I mean it's one thing to pass blame but the decision dwelt solely on the choices made at ballot. So I guess in hindsight, the plight of the middle east is because of the populace. One can only hope the same nonsense isn't repeated come November!!

Al Qaida attacked the USA in a major way retaliation was justified to destroy al Qaida. So Afghanistan was justified for supporting and harboring al qaida. Iraq.....wouldn't have been my choice. I will say, the previous administration made the decision, including Hillary Clinton, to invade Iraq and the same administration left Iraq stabilized. Not secure and with strong leadership but stabilized.

The Obama administration decided to reduce troops in the secured Iraq against professional advisement, overlooked the brutally deadly ISIS caliphate leading to a globalization of the caliphate. We see weekly attacks on innocent people.

Hillary wanted to depose Qaddafi with full knowledge of th loss of Hussein in Iraq leaving instability. The same for support for the Arab Spring uprisings which led to increases regional chaos.

Well, the election was 100% stolen from Gore in 2000. When all votes were counted after the Supreme Court refused to allow an official recount in Florida, Gore won and Florida would've put him over the edge to win.

It wasn't as clear cut in 2004, but there was a lot of voter suppression and purging of voter lists going on. When everyone votes, Democrats win. Republicans are always looking for ways to suppress the vote. And don't forget the conservative swiftboat smear campaign against Kerry.

Do voters share some blame for not being informed and easily deceived? Sure. But I think politicians who actively make it their agenda to suppress and deceive voters are more to blame.

The US/NATO can solve this just like they have done such a great job in the Middle East so far.

Ha ha! Mark, aside from rainbows emitting from unicorn butts, your statement above is the most implausible I've read in a while. Iraq was NOT secured. The withdrawal of American troops was negotiated by the Bush administration and overseen by the Obama administration - Obama did not decide this; he adhered to a binding bilateral agreement. Also, the explosive growth of ISIS was a logical result of the overthrow of Sunni power in Iraq, which, you might remember, was Bush's doing.

What Kerry is discussing is the rush to fill the power vacuum now that Sunni power has been destroyed in traditionally Sunni areas. The Kurds will rush in to fill areas they feel are theirs, and the Shiites will do their best to fill the rest. There is no stopping it; what is required is ordered change and justice for the dispossessed Sunni residents.

If voters are lied to over and over again, then why continue kicking the can down the road? Isn't the very expectation of different result the definition of madness?? What's in the water?

Ah, the lonesome call of the lesser-spotted, brass-necked Clusterduck™

...ducking any memory, acknowledgement of, or responsibility for the massive state terrorism event begun in 2003, killing hundreds of thousands and ripping open the Pandora's Box that still spews murderous chaos and extremism over the world: Madrid, London, Boston, Syria, San Bernardino, Paris, Brussels, Orlando, Nice and countless, countless others.

Then claiming that everything was just hunky dory a mere five years after unleashing hell?

Thank you very clusterducking much!
