"Welcome President Obama to the real world."

As opposed to the fantasy world many of those on the right seem to be living in if they think anyone thought Obama's election would resolve all the world's ills instantaneously.

VOR, I recommend you try to start living in the real world a little yourself, and put a little effort into formulating an 'argument' that deals with the issue instead of simply taking a stab at president Obama because you don't like him. You guys seem to get off on the world's ills and failures so long as they can be twisted to reflect badly on your Commander in Chief.

Most of us are trying to figure out how we can make the world a better place, if possible, while you guys simply hope to invite disaster to somehow justify your bitterness over getting slaughtered in the last election. 'Tis a shame.

In the meantime, I'll say that while Obama has little or nothing at all to do with this discussion, I do fear for the young man who DOES have a part in the thread. Particularly since it follows on the heels of the Polish man kidnapped and brutally murdered. Pakistan really needs to get the wheels moving a little faster to reign in and punish the radical elements within its borders, lest this kind of thing keep happening and the US finally start wondering once and for all what kind of 'ally' in the 'war on terror' Pakistan really is.

These idiot Taliban need to figure out who their enemies are. I doubt Solecki ever did anything against these scumbags. I hope they grow half a brain and let him go and start sticking to real enemies. Or better yet, just fall into a deep dark pit for what they did to the Polish guy.

    Molenir

Regrettably the guy is already dead. His heart may still be beating, his brain may still be functioning, but he is dead already.

I hope so to, but given what they did to the Polish guy when Poland hardly did anything to anyone, and the fact that the guy's American when the Taliban could very well blame the US for all of its problems... it doesn't look good. I pray for the guy, and hope Molenir is wrong, but I have my doubts that he is.

How - By your adolescent refusal, in the vast expanses of cyberspace, to capitalize the names of politicians you oppose, elected to office in countries where you can't even vote?

"...fact that the guy's American when the Taliban could very well blame the US for all of its problems..."

    Priceless.

That is the "progressive" worldview in a nutshell. A bunch of murderous, mysoginst religious whackjobs have "problems" but when they go medieval, you see, it's not really their fault.

smitty spare me the holier than thou attitude. Obama has an American citizen being held hostage by the Taliban. I just want to know how the new administration is going to handle the problem. Are they going to let this guy get his head sawed off or are they going to work some kind of deal with the terrorists. If this guy does end up a human pez dispenser how will Obama react?

Wow... the lights on this site have actually gone dimmer since you walked in. Can you not understand that by saying they can blame their problems on someone else that it doesn't mean it is not their own fault -- that they are just blaming others? Let me give you a prime example; you come on here all riled up, as usual, and pretend it's the fault of others while really it's YOU who can control your emotions and their resulting actions. In short, stop riling yourself up, relax, and try to understand things a little better.

VOR: "smitty spare me the holier than thou attitude."

Never thought I was holier than anyone. Smarter, perhaps. More objective, without a doubt. Less ignorant, again without question (given that wuzza, you, and a few others blame everything bad in the world on Islam). Holier? Never claimed as such, no.

"Obama has an American citizen being held hostage by the Taliban. I just want to know how the new administration is going to handle the problem."

Well 'welcome to the real world' is a funny way of asking how to deal with a problem; instead it seems to imply that up to then the party being addressed was in another world than the 'real' one. Perhaps next time you ought to simply say what you mean instead of putting out some immature troll and expecting everyone to 'know what you really mean'.

"If this guy does end up a human pez dispenser how will Obama react?"

How very caring of you towards this fellow citizen of yours.

Probably a democrat anyway so no big deal.

    vor,

"I just want to know how the new administration is going to handle the problem."

Presumably as smoothly as Bush Co handled the Nick Berg decapitation?

The trouble the seemingly fanatical Obama detractors face, is that their man Bush set the bar that low for success.

Any Westerner who visits an Islamic country risks his or her life. I hope for his safe return, but surely he must have known that being kidnapped and murdered was a real possibility.

the Taliban could very well blame the US for all of its problems

They probably could, smith. I have no doubt the US has made their lives miserable. I'd take pride in the US getting all the credit.
