Henry Kissinger is an evil man. How can the geezer criticise Clinton?
He will favour any Israeli attack on Arabs whaterevr the circunstabces, he is biased and as previously said wanted in countries for his evil.
The bloke should shut up now. He needs locking up for life with a bunch of butch trannies, Clinton is 100 times of a man and diplomat than Kissinger ever was, the old swine.
Part of what Kissinger is saying is true. NK knows what their positions are and they are a good tough negotiators. NK needs get back to 6 party framework to solve this continued problem. The only position where NK has leverage is the nuclear program. What NK wants to do, since Kim Jong Il will be passing on the leadership to somebody else soon, is to have survival and preservation of their system and they will continue to sacrifice their own people, if they cannot get it their way. NK desperately needs econmics assistance from the outside.
‘‘A visit by a former president, who is married to the secretary of state, will enable Kim Jong Il to convey to North Koreans, and perhaps to other countries, that his country is being accepted into the international community,’’
Translation: Giving NK a humanitarian compassion is the most stupid diplomatic tactic, because it is a rogue communist regime that ignores and abuses the basic human rights.
I may get heat for pointing this out, but the DPRK continued covertly their nuclear weapon development program even w/ the Clinton Administration's bilateral agreement. It was this disclosure that initiated the 6parties talks.
Getting two journalists out is far easier than getting the DPRK to a nuclear disarmament agreement which can be clearly verified, because they derive power, influence and money for their arms sales. Nuclear disarmament of the DPRK is the crux of the issue and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger is probably aware of this.
America plays good cop bad cop with NK. But should always remember what NK is guilty of. International Kidnapping, Drug running, counterfeiting and likely a long list of other crimes. And that is what their government does.
Former President Clinton did allow himself to be used by Kim Jong Ill - a truly awful person who has killed, brutalized, and starved millions of his own people. But hey, he did get a big time Democratic fund-raiser and Obama pal to provide him with a large party plane to entertain those two attractive young Asian American chicks. I would guess he got about 12 hours or so of time with them during the flight back over the Pacific. No wonder Hillary is all upset about some foreigner asking about her husband (though the question was misunderstood).
I still think the Stalinists running North Koreans wanted to deal with Clinton because he is white. Like the apartheid Stalinist regime in Cuba (prison population 90 percent black, only 9 percent of those in government are black) they are too racist to deal with an American president who is obviously of African descent and whose election shattered for good the myth that in America it is only those of northern European extraction who can hold the reins of power.
Lot of credability from Nixon's mouthpiece. Bill Clinton got these two media idiots home. They cross into North Korea and I'm supposed to feel for them. Like the three idiots that went into Iran. Some body will go get them home also.
It's not like that didn't know what would happen to them if they went into NK.
"will enable Kim Jong Il to convey to North Koreans, and perhaps to other countries, that his country is being accepted into the international community,"
And if Clinton didn't visit, KJI could say the same thing anyway and his people would believe it (or say they do) to the same extent. I'm guessing the average North Korea doesn't question KJI or ask for proof to back up his statements or we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.
"A visit by a former president, who is married to the secretary of state, will enable Kim Jong Il to convey to North Koreans, and perhaps to other countries, that his country is being accepted into the international community,"
... to North Koreans..
A surprisingly silly comment from the former secretary of state. Kim Jong Il could tell his people it's midnight at noon or that Americans have horns and that's what would be "conveyed".
The multinational talks only work when NK thinks that they are slipping or when they are backed into a corner.
I'd say the opposite is true. The only progress that was ever made in the 6 party talks was when the Bush administration cut down on it's aggressive tone against NK and started to talk to them seriously, obviously because the US realized they had to keep their back free for their middle east engagements. The talks went stale after whatever miniscule verbal attack from JP or SK.
Historically and strategically the NK deterrence was directed primarily against the US and much less against their neighbours. Thus improving the bilateral relations between the US and NK is the key to the nuclear disarmament. Involving China makes sense because it is one of the only countries left which has at least a limited diplomatic influence in NK and it can't have an interest in having an erratic nuclear power next door.
Diplomatically and economically, NK is almost isolated. There is no more real pressure left which the international community can apply. How would you treat an obdurate young guy, who has always been the punching bag and who has nothing left but his desperation and a gun? Try to push him further into the corner? Goad him?
This act gives Kim and his cohorts an out
This may not be the worst thing in the current situation. The recent aggressive behaviour didn't seem to be triggered externally, at least no single events. It's pure speculation, but the most obvious reason is a start of succession fights after Kim's ailing health state became known. Consequently, if Clinton's visit and the corresponding photos can give Kim some relief internally, it may help calming down the situation for some time. Internationally, NK is isolated and I can't see how the visit should change that in any way.
Kissinger was a mistake and blunderer under Nixon's administration. Why is he criticizing anyone, especially Bill Clinton? Maybe he's upset Clinton didn't kiss up to Israel as much as Bushs.
Kissinger is just another republican war criminal. While pretending to want peace he was bombing the hell out of Cambodia and lying about it. He lied about what he was doing and killed millions of people. His actions lead to the Khmer Rouge taking over in Cambodia with 40 percent of the population murdered.
He has no cred at all. And his nobel prize was a farce as the treaty he negotiated was worthless, he knows it himself as he tried to return the money from the prize back to the Nobel committee.

You have this wrong. Cambodia was direct result of Robert McNamara, a key archtect in Vietnam war under Lyndon Johnson and Kennedy. I know Kessinger was a respected politician. He is a good man.

NK and Vietnam never signed any peace treaties.
