Yeah, but what about after the apologies are over? That's the real test, isn't it?

Do they even show Letterman in Japan?

TSRnow
For something most people in Japan are not interested, this is a mighty long article.

Was Letterman apologizing, or bragging?

It's all smiles in front of the audience now for Letterman.
Wait until he's one-on-one with his wife.
This guy is a total jerk.
He just got married in March to his long-time girlfriend of 6 or so years.
If any of this occurred during that time, Letterman deserves everything coming to him.

Who is Ladderman anyways? Not that bald guy that laughs loudly at his own jokes is it?

Winger "humor", from the neocon "funny guy" Dennis Miller, who tried to do a top 10 thing about revelations of Letterman's recent dalliances:
2 "Whoops, looks like Cheney isn't the only one who shoots people in the face"
And the Number One Reason to Accept That Job Offer from David Letterman:
1 After the sex, he lets you keep the Palin wig"
Yeah. real funny Dennis.I bet your buddy Bill OReilly just laughed and laughed

I agree.

says all about the intelligence level of the audience who cling to the stupid jokes of a philanderer and total jerk.

Now don't so hard on Dave....His past Palin jokes are just so darn hilarious my sides are still hurt from the belly laughs.

You know, I never "got" Letterman. If I had been forced to pick sides in the Leno/Letterman divide, I guess I would have gone with Leno; Leno is a highly personable guy who tells bland, mildly unfunny jokes. Watchable, but not really worth the time. In contrast, Letterman was just kind of bizzare (in a humorless sort of way). Now, Conan O'Brien I find hilarious. To each their own, I suppose...

How does his cheating on his wife make his jokes unfunny? Look I can understand if you can't stand the guy because of what he did, and don't want to watch his show, but that doesn't "say" anything about those that choose to. One could say the same of certain errant directors...

This is a connection I did not make. You apparently did. Let me rephrase. Being a philanderer appalls me. Being a philanderer attracting huge audiences on networks who are attracted by the man's lack of moral standards AND dumb jokes appalls me even more.

Smart man getting out ahead of the tabloids and his blackmailer. This won't hurt his career one bit.

I have always liked Letterman and I will support him over a bunch of gold digging, star chasing hussies any day.

There's no question that Letterman behaved like a buffoon and treated his wife badly on a lot of different levels. But this public fascination with watching celebrities brought low is rather strange. Misery loves company, I guess? As far as I'm concerned life is a contact sport and if you've got nothing better to do than watch some poor schmuck be publically humiliated then you need to find something more worthwhile.
Of course he does make his money by being in the public eye so I guess he's got himself a real problem. But if the public were doing better than watching TV then a lot of the world's problems would be solved and Letterman would have to find a real job. Now that's funny!

I find it very humorous that David Letterman goes out with these butch, homely girls -that ultimately do him in. Bill Clinton was similiar, but had better taste except for Paula (the nose) Jones.
I am against the going public for the ratings aspect of it -but it is TV and he needs the ratings. -And it seems to be working.

Half of American couples cheat on each other at some time. The wingers are most guilty, saying one thing and then sleeping with the neighbor right after.

Where were David Letterman's "handlers"? -And why were they not doing their job.
=Even with the tooth gap, bald spot, crappy jokes the "handlers" should have women lining up for this guy.

Letterman must be a winger now that zurc has spoken. I can see it a little bit. It's becoming obvious. Just like the wingers being behind many a conspiracy like 9-11 and such.

It's easy to be self-righteous and criticize Dave. But if you were rich and famous and had cute young girls constantly interested in you, how well would you fair? I thought so.
Anyway, he wasn't married at the time so no adultry was committed.

He's just some guy who made $40 million dollars last year to laugh loudy at his own jokes.

Is it really necessary to inject politics (esp. bitter partisan ones) into everything?
