If my recollection is correct, not so long ago a poster was a laughingstock in another thread about disoriented whales who died on the seashore somewhere there, for he took them as the heralds of a big earthquake and a predicted one big to come for sure.

The folk over there are really going through it the past year. I have friends there and it's been terrifying and frustrating for them at the same time. My mate keeps trying to rebuild his property only for another quake to hit. Christchurch folk are in my thoughts.
@The Munya Times~ Yeah, I remember that. Looks like the poster might be onto something.

Well, just to think I left Tokyo for Christchurch 4 years ago for a quieter life. 15 months of earthquakes. Never knowing when the next one will hit. Not sure what the reports are saying but I am in central CHC and the second one was much bigger. Power now back on. 29 shakes since 2 PM. But you get used to it. Inbetween quakes i mowed the lawn. Then had a sleep until power came back on. The earth is young. Who knows how long this could carry on for? Since Setember 4th 2010 we have had over 8,000 earthquakes. So I guess you do get used to it. Helps me to understand how my grandparents withstood the blitz.
BTW, no whales in my backgarden yet but these are early days. And strange times.

Contary to the report above, the second quake was a 6.0 just 8km below the surface and 20 kim from city center

Thanks Munya and Samantha, I think that poster was me?? I do not want to say I am gifted at predicting anything, but recently you get whales, dolphins etc..beaching themselves there near New Zealand and give it a few wakes later and kaboom! I hope the good people of New Zealand are safe.

@SimondB, that is what I love about the Kiwis! Great sense of humor! No whales yet in your backyard?? LOL! Merry Christmas down there in summer, right??

Those whales got stranded on November 16th. Here is ElBuda's comment: This mass suicide of whales happens every time before a major earthquake!! The Kiwis better get ready for another major quake!!

About 50 whales (melon headed) were stranded in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture on March 6, 2011. Five days later, the magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck Japan. This is not without precedent. Maybe the whales can sense something humans can't.

On August 20 2010, one month before the 7.0 Mag hit Christ Church 58 Pilot whales stranded in northern NZ
Then on the weekend before the 6.3 Mag hit NZ February 22 there were more than 100 Whales stranded in the south of NZ.
The only problem with these theories is the timespan.

And all the other times that strandings had no connection to seismic activity, many more than the former

Don't spoil all our well researched theories now....

And the Ring of Fire burns burns burns, as the flames go higher. Brace yourself, Japan.
