Why the heck doesn't this lady adopt a kid from the US? How many kids are orphans in the states - thousands. Why do these stars feel that kids from other countries are better?

skipthesong - same could be said about adopting a kid in the US. Why should they be considered superior to other kids, just because they are from the same country? Hell, if she is making a positive difference to one kid's life then good for her.

skipthesong, I think it is reasonable to say that American orphans receive far better care in general. Let Madonna adopt whoever the heck she wants. I would sooner complain about people who COULD adopt and won't than split hairs about people who are actually adopting.

I think yous got me figured wrong.
I kind of feel that she is doing this more as a statement than anything else. True, American orphans, African what ever. None of better than the next but why go so far when there are orphans basically right around your corner?

But my wife, who is Japanese, is completely against it. Not for nothing, but I wouldn't want to bring a kid around her family. Too stuck up!

skipthesong, maybe she is doing it as a statement, but also awareness is a factor here as well. america is a very wealthy country. they have the capability, although they don't do it very well, take care of their own. malawi is one of the world's least developed countries. all the help they can get the better

This nutcase goes to Malawi with her peiece of string and wnats another "trophy" adoption, so she can show off to her divvy mates.

If she is so concerned about orphans, why noyt donate half of all her sales to help orphans in Africa, she can afford it, but she aint gonna do it ever.

How exactly do you define "COULD"? Theoretically I COULD adopt a child but I really don't want to. Call me selfish for wanting to spend my evenings in peace but thats just how some people are.

And anyway, splitting hairs about anything silly that a celebrity does is fun. Personally I think she keeps adopting these kids as a kind of fashion accessory you know how it goes; I have my new hat, my new suit, my new third world country orphan...
