I think 72 is probably longer than average for a music star. PPM was one of the few groups that didn't behave like jackasses or get arrested for drug possession. Their music appealed to a wide age group. They spent a lot of time singing protest songs that the people loved and the politicians ignored. I suggest readers check out the YouTube performance of Blowin' in the Wind at the Washington Mall during the big Peace March in 1971.

During the Iraq war (which isn't over yet), soldiers in the volunteer military fought and died and nobody sang songs to get them out. Pacifism became passe. But thanks, Mary, at least you tried.

    WOW!!!!

I love Peter, Paul and Mary. I've got some of their old stuff and 2 pieces of their newer. I remember they were the folk group that got me into activism. They started me thinking about politics and being liberal.

And at the time Mary was a pretty good looking woman, too.

    RIP Mary. < :-)

Seems a whole lot of celebrities dying off of late. Sad to see yet another brilliant light go out.

    RIP, Mary.

Wow really sad, I grew up listening to them as my mom and dad were part of the folk generation. "Leavin on a Jet plane" is "our" song as that's how it always seemed when my wife and I were dating.
