Ah, good old fashioned stupid criminals. Gotta love 'em

OMG I lived in Stow a long time ago. Robbing banks may be one of the few jobs left in Akron/surrounding area.

Maybe he was looking for a warm place to sleep and 3 meals a day until the weather warms. This is the only reason besides being STUPID!

But who's more STUPID, the criminal or the bank employees who didn't call the police while the guy was waiting in line with a mask on? Or maybe he was in the express line marked for stupid robbers with toy guns.

In his defense, no one likes a line-cutter.

If I am one of the people waiting in the line or one of the employees, I don't know if I would have fled and/or called the police immediatly, but of course I would not have stayed there as if nothing happens. In Spain, my bank has a double-door system. You can enter freely the first glass door, but the second one is closed. You have to push a button, then they see you with a security camera and open only if you don't look suspicios. If you are aregular visitor, of course it takes only a few seconds, so normally the procedure is fast. So this would have never happened in my bank. What a relief.

"it's unusual for a masked robber to wait in line at a bank."
Really?

He used a toy gun, too? Ummm....can you say, "mental problems"?

Its cold in Ohio, and I heard that winter their has been especially hard. Probably lots of people in ski masks.
So a guy walks in with one on. I am sure plenty of the staff took notice. But then he gets in line! Right then, most people are going to assume he isn't a robber and just forget his mask or whatever.
Its funny that people think he is a dummy. I mean he probably is, but note that he got caught while driving away. The tellers did not notify police until either during or after the actual robbery.
I doubt the move was intentional, but its still genius. He was hidden in plain sight, and was not believed a robber until he was right up at the teller, reducing the staff's time to act.
I really can't blame the staff either. Its a real catch 22 for them. If they call the cops and the guy turns out not to be a robber, they will like idiots. If they don't, and he is a robber, they look like idiots. Odds were he was not a robber since he got in line. Tough call.

Its more common than you might think. And frankly, even robbing a bank with a real gun could indicate mental problems. Its not even necessary to have a gun, real or fake.
