I'm not sure what this has to do with earthquakes. Farewell Spit is an immense sandbank stretching miles out into the sea at top of the South Island. Whales have always beached there for some unknown reason. The dunes are full of their bones. Farewell Spit is also a bird sanctuary with huge colonies of various seabirds. Truly an amazing place.

There is something going on lately underneath the ocean. Hope you and I were wrong on earthquakes.

Someone from the Japanese whaling commission should be there. Better to use the whales as food and other product than to let their deaths be meaningless

Dolphins sometimes do that in other parts of the world, as well as some larger toothed whales. Hardly indicative of an impending earthquake.

All the Japanese have to do go there and wait.

It might happen, but whale strandings happen fairly regularly on the Australian coastline too. When was the last significant earthquake recorded in Australia?

< Mexicano, you and I are on the same page. It is not a joke. There are several US academic studies in relationship between earthquake and whales activities. I am just listing one of them here.
