“just like the surge in Iraq was“

Funny, because McCain himself, as the mirror of bush, said the war was 'nearly over, the end in sight' around the time it started. Seems like yet another Republican who had to deceive himself worse and worse before he got better.

He's right, in a way, that Afghanistan is going to get worse before it gets better, but he ought to also focus on the fact that it's getting worse because the troops/funding were diverted from it into the ridiculous war in Iraq. In other words, the fault of his government.

It's obvious MCain is doing this on behalf of the incoming administration, which he has pledged to work with.

Gates was one of the architects of the surge. He has been retained by Obama.

And Dem leaders in Congress are reportedly shying away from completely outlawing 'torture' such as waterboarding.

President-elect Obama can only humiliate his Lefty base so much.

Kudos to McCain for showing the Democrats the meaning of 'bipartisan.'

    He's a great man.

When will Europe be pulling their troops and funding out?

Of course it's going to get worse in Iraq. This war could have been settled already, but gwb threw his vigilanty card and left the Afghanistan war to someone else.

Instead he went into Iraq and watched over the murder of innocent men women and children from thre initial Shock and Aw to the miserable end of his administration.

Yeah, John McCain is so correct. Things will get worse. During all this Iraq War crap the Taliban got a chance to rebuild their forces and strongholds. < :-)

" "Funny, because McCain himself, as the mirror of bush, " "

Actually, McCaine was never the "mirror of Bush". He had different with Bush on Iraq from the start and built his entire campaign precisely on not being Bush.

Not that it really matters... both parties miss the point in regard to the Middle East... but these simplistic campaign slogans are getting boring.
