I think McCain's proposal to suspend the liquidation requirement makes some sense. However, I wonder exactly who this will benefit.
Prudent investors who are anywhere near the required liquidation age will have the bulk of their investments in the money market, in bonds, in insurance funds and in blue-chip stocks. The conservative viewpoint is, usually, that imprudence should neither be rewarded nor indemnified.
The only real excuses for having significant investments in volatile stocks are that you have so little money that you need to bet it on long shots or that you have so much money that investing part of it is a good risk.

I'm starting to worry:
"Chief Executive magazine’s most recent polling of 751 CEOs shows that GOP presidential candidate John McCain is the preferred choice for CEOs. According to the poll, which is featured on the cover of Chief Executive’s most recent issue, by a four-to-one margin, CEOs support Senator John McCain over Senator Barack Obama. Moreover, 74 percent of the executives say they fear that an Obama presidency would be disastrous for the country. "
