I can't wait to see how John McCain spins this "time horizan".
But as for Obama's flip-flopping on his stance, every word that he speaks is disected, reask, reask-change 1 word, back to the original questional. Then John McCain and his staff spin it anyway they can.
John McCain goes to Iraq because he likes war. He likes to be surrounded by soldiers and officers. Hell a hundred soldiers, three helicopters and multiple vehicles; John McCain loves it. < :-)
It's not only Iraq that Obama has flip-flopped. He's flip-flopped on campaign finance reform, he's flip-flopped on gun control, he's flip-flopped on late-term abortions, he's flip-flopped on capital punishment, he's flip-flopped on the Patriot Act, he's flip-flopped on the Trinity United Church, he's flip-flop on wearing a flag pin....and that's just in the last couple of months. Whew!
Going to beal the deal maker or deal breaker to a huge chunk of sensible center if he's really got what it takes to be President.
If he doesn't come back from this trip and proclaim the he was wrong about the surge then he is not going to seal the deal as to why I should vote for him and not McCain.
If he does come back and changes his proposed Iraq policy to a mission that builds on what the surge has done instead of the one he now proposes. The one that has the danger of reversing those gains by a rigid timeline instead of being guided by the events on the ground to make the right decisions as to moving forward with the ultimate goal of a free and stable Iraq able to stand on her own.
If he does change his policy, he would at least show to me that he isn't a 'flip-flopper' but a real leader that can take the tough calls and admit he is wrong when he has to.
Will he be a leader and acknowledge that the surge is working? Or, will he mealy-mounth the words and pander to the far left base of party to keep their support?
What he says after talking to General Petreaus and Ambassador Crocker is going to be very interesting, very interesting indeed. Time to step up to plate Obama and show this poster at least what your really made of as far as decisions your going to make as Commander and Chief.
Would you call for John McCain to walk around Afghanistan with no escorts, flak vest, imbedded global locator chip? Or dop you just suggest this for Barack out of republican hate?
Again, do you call for John McCain....? You read it above. < :-)
Some very strange posts here, I wonder how is some one is suppose to find out the situation where his troops are unless he goes? To spin this in any other light than a future Commander and Chief going to visit his troops would be an insult to the office of the President.
Funny thing is I wonder how ole fighting Mc and his spin machine would spin this if Obama did not go?
Desperation will come soon enough, you will know when ole Mc gets desperate when he starts throwing the mud.........
And why is your man McCain still preaching that he'll revive Detroit when even Detroit knows full well Detroit can't be revived???
Actually, with the exception of the fuel problem that's affecting most car companies, the Detroit companies are doing okay. They've increased quality and fuel economy, though there is still a lot of room for improvement.
Both candidates have changed their positions on a variety of issues. And both candidates have been on the wrong side of a variety of issues. I really don't see where anyone thinks they have an advantage.
McCain should actually consider himself lucky the press is trailing Obama, otherwise someone might notice his own shifting views. For example:
In February Mr. McCain said he would balance the federal budget by the end of his first term even while extending the gargantuan Bush tax cuts. In April he said he’d accomplish this by the end of his second term. In July he’s again saying he’ll do it in his first term. Why not just say he’ll do it on Inauguration Day? It really doesn’t matter since he’s never supplied real numbers that would give this promise even a patina of credibility.
If you look at it from "pull out of Iraq in 16 months" to the most recent pronouncements then Obama is definately flopping around like a fish out of water. Which is to be expected from any politician - as Betzee pointed out. It's funny to think that anybody takes this guy seriously.

Idea: Barak Hussein Obama is goin' to Iraq because he doesn't like war.

John McCain makes his trips to Iraq and walks down streets surrounded by 100 solders, 3 helicopters more camaras then you can shake a stick at.
The media has made this a circus. Not Barack Obama. < :-)

Obama hasn't been officially nominated yet. The Democrats may yet wise up and dump him at the convention. But probably not. Hee hee!
"McCain goes to Iraq because he likes war."
And Obama goes to Iraq because...?

It really doesn't matter when the "politics" have got this petty.
