super: what we are not being told is:
1. what type and what investments did the candidates have?
2. notice that it is cross party.
and 3. Cindy is not a candidate.
pretty raw when you have to attack a man's wife to get a point across.
The comment wasn't necessarily directed at you. It may be a perceptual error on my part, but it seems to me that negative comments about Michelle proceed without rebuke, while negative comments about Cindi are met with cries of foul.
sez: I think that is because Michelle has been a big factor in Obama's campaigns whereas Cindy has not. Additionally, Cindy has been on several tv show where she actually advocated cross party platforms. Kind of like Maria Shriver who back Obama while her husband, Gov. Swartzneggar is a Repub.
I don't see how Michelle has done much different than other spouses usually are. But it's true that Cindy has been rather reclusive.
However, I don't think it matters whether Michelle has been a "big factor" in Obama's campaign or not. Wives can either be attacked or they cannot. As Cindy observed, she is not the candidate. Additionally, we really wouldn't know how big a factor Cindy has been until we know how her wealth has affected campaign financing.
Sez and Skip,
I could agree that, because Michelle Obama has been more vocal than Cindy McCain, she should receive more media attention, if that were the only consideration.
However, considering that it is Cindy's money that is being used to ferry her husband around, her finances are now fair game as well.
To be fair, if she doesn't want to be involved in the political scrutiny, she cannot be involved financially in her husband's campaign. Unfortunately for her, she has been involved financially in her husband's campaign and therefore, I think that opens her finances up for scrutiny.
she has been involved financially in her husband's campaign and therefore, I think that opens her finances up for scrutiny" Has she? Why was his campaign broke a few months ago?
asking because I don't know.
Additionally, please don't take my argument as anything against Michelle. One could also say that her notoriety could benefit Obama and Cindy's silence be a disadvantage to McCain.
Also, I have several silent financial partners who want to stay in the background only. I wouldn't ask them to come out in perilous times.
Skip,
Here's a link that should help you understand Cindy McCain's financial contributions to her husband's candidacy:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/27/us/politics/27plane.html?pagewanted=print
taka: bascially all this says is that he is getting a better deal and it is within the rules, depending on who is interpreting them. According to media matters, a very left wing and dem controlled web site, is that to date, Cindy has not lent any money to McCain's presidential bid. Granted, he does have the access but does that make it un-fair?
However, after viewing her on several news shows and readings as of now, I can come to a conclusion that she is 1. happy to have prenup, and 2. she is going to drop him soon.
Skip,
I never said it was illegal.
The point I was trying to make is that, I believe, since she is actively aiding her husband financially, legal as it may be, it also opens her up for media scrutiny.
Taka: I'll agree if she has lent/given "cash". But the plane usage can be considered theirs/his too. I still can't find anything relating to cash.
Now what I am doing is finding out exactly what her funds were investing in. I have superior access to that information than most, so hopefully after the bell rings, I'll be able to find it.
My impression is that because Michelle has received a lot of media attention she appears to have been more active than she actually has. But, as I say, that's an impression.

skipthesong,
...er, "than other spouses usually do." The perils of editing on the fly. Soon I'll be thinking we have 57 states--or maybe 60.

McCain's wife has class. Michelle Obama is probably the angriest, most bitter millionaire in America.
