Nice photo! Merkel and Sarkozy seem so close to each other.... Too bad that European member states were never so close but followed different fiscal policies. Well, better late than never.

The photo needs a caption bubble over Sarkozy´s head: "I am so happy. I finally impregnated her with the Euro. And at my age!"

Need to get out of this mess of course, but in the longer term this will mean Germany and France dictating domestic financial policy to the Euro currency states.

Of course no PIIG country is willing to get under Brussels dictatorship for their finances. It is simple. The moment Germany stops paying, the Euro is done with.

Even Jacques Delors, architect of the Euro, now admits that the project was doomed to fail from the start:

As willing as Germany is to pay, there is a limit for everything.
