I wonder if the exercises are being conducted in the same place as the exercises in which the Cheonan sank? If you look at a map, its really far away from the bulk of S.K., and around a small S.K. held island that is totally dwarfed by the nearby N.K. This is like holding a military parade on the street in front of N.K.'s house. I am no fan of N.K., but I certainly do wish these gung-ho little boy yahoos would stop provoking them like this. Plenty of places to have their little exercises besides up N.K.'s nose.

Yep, pretty tense situation up-there.... you'll never ever know how the North will react (And the latest build-up will obviously make Asian markets jittery in the coming weeks) :(

If the location is up NKorea's nose good. We should do stealth flybys over every one of Dear Leader's known residences just to watch their defense grid light up. The fear of "provoking them" is what perpetuates this ridiculous regime's attitude and actions. They're already in a state of war all by themselves, you can't "provoke" them any further.

"They're already in a state of war all by themselves, you can't "provoke" them any further."

Uh. Yeah. Well said. And if there are moderates among the military leadership, they should have a chance to see what North Korea is likely to be up against. Moderates in North Korea, you say? Sure! You can't have a gajillion man army and not have some real live people in uniform.

This exercise turns up the heat.... on the hardliners, which is as it should be. Guns or butter Kim? Well, with a GNP a third the size of Nagano's, he is going to have to boost military spending in light of this exercise, but domestic strife and near famine continue. And that little problem of choosing a successor makes things a little touchy.

After these exercises are over, I think a long period of silence would be in order.

I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that the military exercises are being held where they are because, if North Korea decides to launch a rocket at a US carrier, it will be headed straight for China. Overshoot and little and OOPS! That would pretty well put an end to the North Korean drama.

"U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced Wednesday, after visiting the Demilitarized Zone dividing the two Koreas, that the U.S. would slap new sanctions on the North to stifle its nuclear ambitions and punish it for the Cheonan sinking."

is Mrs. Clinton saying nk is guilty for launching that darn torpedo? sheesh. and she's going to punish nk without being 100% sure that nk launched it. and how is she going to punish nk? and if she does punish them, won't that make nk even more angry at her, leading to anger at the US for embarrassing them to the world? not only that, for her to be ordering them around and accusing them when they might not be the guilty ones. that's pretty insulting right there.

i don't think they should be demonstrating their military exercises. cuz what if US and SK do attack nk? or what if NK attacks either one of them. or maybe china might attack US. and it's such a waste of money and resources/fuel.

I still think these are typographical errors. NK will launch an "unclear deterrence" and start a "scared war".

Now is a Golden Chance for someone, anyone, to take a pop at the George Washington.

Any Taliban subs out there? ... hehehe...

North Korea will get the blame of course, because they made the threat, and it was all over the world's press.

The milatery needs to pull themselfs out of the 50's. If we gave the people a little shock and Awa perhaps it would put enough fear into them, To have them change the tide. That's where it all must start any way.

Korea pays a dear price for not being a powerful nation. Had Korea opened up to west as japan had done then maybe Korea might have avoided the fatal tragedy of being divided across 38th paralel by the U.S.A. and Soviet Union..It may have been a Korean tragedy that was unavoidable not to mention just japan's colonization of Korea but also Superpower division of 2 Koreas plus chinese army's intervention in Korean War..And now 2 Koreas are forced to hate each other and even have to go to war with each other..Things don't look too good for the outcome of 2 Koreas..I feel bad that foreigners only sought to exploit Korean division to their own profit but at the same time S Korea needs U.S. help just as U.S. is having military exercises with S Korea.

Koreans have blamed china, japan, russia and even USA enough for their internal woes..Now is time for Koreans to forgive foreign powers and not dwell on the past..After Korea-US military drills are over, two Koreas may need to find better ways to get along well with each other and try not to act rashly at the expense of Korea-U.S. relations..So S Korea must learn to balance its delicate relations with both Pyongyang & Washington..

Plus it's extremely hard for Seoul to please both N Korea & U.S.A. simultaneously because these two countries are at the very extreme opposites to each other..The U.S. is the world's freest and the most open nation while dprk is stalinist, most repressive and extremely impoverished nation that can barely feed itself..

It's also quite difficult to deal with lil kimmy up north but so far S Korea and USA have managed to ignore crazy kim until his torpedo attack on South Korean warship brought out can of worms..In effect, N Korea has declared war against S Korea..Seoul despite its growing economy is still too much dependent on U.S. military in S Korea for its own security..However, Thanks to President Lee Myung Bak's pro-U.S.A. foreign policy, the Americans have never been so much welcomed in S Korea as they are now in Korea.

Some people just can't be happy until a war is provoked. Geesh.

At the end of the day it will probably just be routine. A routine training exercise, routine rhetoric from NK, then everyone goes home.

Until we indebt NK to the financial terrorists we must fight them at all fiat costs. All independents like Iran and Venezuela must come on-line and accept the ObamaDollar as sovereign. Only then can our globalist agenda be complete.

Japan can't feed itself but NK can. -Who is more in danger here?

I guess an unprovoked murder of 46 people means nothing to some people.

??? When was the last time Japan suffered a major famine with people starving? And when was the last time the UN determined that the DPRK doesn't need food or energy assistance? Hell, the norks are even asking for cement... doen't they even have sand and dirt there any more?

Funny how Obama come into office and wanted to "end the war", lol..now he is helping to provoke one..just to prove a point of "power"..it's not about overlooking 46 dead ppl, it is about being civil and knowing when and how to take action...hope Obama is on one of those ships..just in case all hell breaks lose. Hope not though..I read an article on Fidel Castro in an interview he gave, Interesting but disturbing as well..
