Welcome to a new era of Crusades by Islam.

"In Jos, witnesses said rioters armed with knives, homemade firearms and stones had attacked passers-by and fought with security forces, leaving bodies in the street and stacked in mosques after fighting began Sunday."
"Knives, homemade firearms, and stones" ? Good god, where there's a will there's a way !

There's a genocide occurring in Africa, perpetrated by the Muslims, and you hardly hear about it.

The liberal mainstream media refuses to cover the Muslims oppressing Christians! This is disgusting.

Typical idiot commentary by AP writers. The grievances of of islam against non-islam are always "local" -- but always based on the holy command hate and fight the infidels. And not only in the "West", but also in countries where there is no Bush or Cheney in sight, like Nigeria.
But don´t expect the mainstream media to awake from their PC stupor.

WilliB: do you have some kind of frustration about "Bush or Cheney".

Corinne Dufka, senior West Africa researcher at Human Rights Watch, said what caused the latest spark was beside the point. The deeper problem, she said, is the government’s failure to address underlying conflict in the region.
Always easy to blame the government. A shallow judgement. The problem is deeper than that, Corinne, and it is world-wide.

And what does the liberal media have to do with this? Trying to sling ....? Do better than that.
This has been going on for quite a while. Not to this intensity though. Can you image the innocent people on both sides who get caught up in this mess? I'm thinking about those souls who died while praying. Just worshiping. So pitiful. < :-)

Oh hey wow, thanks for the insight. I had no idea the Christians involved in the violence here were...actually not involved int he violence. Not killing people and burning them alive, their bodies 'stacked in mosques' with their 'hands raised skyward.
Or is what you people are saying that Christian violence and butchery is justified? Ironic when half of you despise having a black Christian president, but call laughable solidarity with Nigerian Christians.
Then again - since so many of you distrust Obama so deeply because 'He's a secret Mooslim!' - maybe what you are saying is that the Christians slaughtering people - burning them alive, slicing off their limbs, raping them, all the fun stuff - are infact *Mooslims *for real? I mean really, judging from your utter failure to acknowledge the part of those calling themselves Christians in this violence in addition to those calling themselves Muslim doing the same - this is really the only explanation that makes sense.
Other than simply calling a spade a spade and your utter and pure hatred for Muslims what it is - utter and pure hatred for Muslims. You despise us. You hate us - our mothers, sons, daughters, fathers, children, infants, whatever. We get it, honestly. It's OK to just come out and say it now.
The violence in Nigeria is ethnic, whether they identify these ethnic lines among imaginary lines or use religion for the convenience of it. It is simple hatred for The Other - something people like you should be very familiar with, no?
Stop this transference of your twisted fantasies of Armageddon and warrior Christianity that would make Jesus weep on Nigeria's ethnic slaughter. Just like the byword of the Crusades - 'infidel' - that you so head-scratchingly attribute to Muslims. No, sorry - that was your word, and you used it to designate Muslims as heretics and unworthy of life with it. You can keep it, thanks.

Sad but true. Why dont we ever hear about Muslim religious leaders opposed to the killing of Christians. Where are the fatwas against this violence?? Islam supports killing of Christians and Infidels with rewards.

Where are the 'faaaatwas', as you probably pronounce it, ignoramus?
You are willingly blind, and yet ask where you can see what you do not want to and ignore in your blind, blind hatred for Muslims?
A genocide is a one-sided slaughter of another minority group. (Not two groups locking horns and killing one another over trifling local land, etc disputes.)
Like Rwanda....oh crap, bad example, no Muslims involved there!
Or Bosnia...oh crap again, Muslims were the ones ethnically cleansed there! And Serbian chuches to this day praise the genocide. Sigh, maybe the Christian churches supporting the genocide were...Muslim? Only explanation!
I wonder, when will a Christian honestly explain to me how it is they always accuse Muslims of loving to kill the 'Infidels'? You Christians do realize that 'Infidel' is your word? Your word, created by the Crusaders to characterize Muslims as heretics and thus worthy of death? And now you seriously supplant this lovely word of yours on us???
I'd write more, but I need to get up to speed on my Christian killing and love for genocide that I somehow missed studying my religion for six years when you somehow caught in without doing so for ten seconds.

No, muslims attribute it to non-muslims. Half of the Koran is dedicated to the hatred of and fight against infidels. Read it, before pontificating.
The riots in Nigeria are caused by muslim supremacy demands (the northern Nigerian states already have Shariah, and Nigerian muslims demand it in the other states too). And they are not unique either, they happen everywhere where islam meets non islam.

I know your kind, and your endgame is but one thing: wipe out the new Other. Falsify and demonize in order to achieve the end of wiping out Muslims.
Read it? Really, am I to take your claim of half the Qur'an - which you purposefully misspell as 'Koran' in your childish show of hatred - as decicated to hatred for the 'infidel'?
Assume you are more read of the Qur'an than I? Absolutely not, not only because I speak classical Arabic - unlike you and you Robert Spencer - and not least because I am a Hafidh of the Qur'an, meaning I have memorized it in its entirety. I have studied it and its various exegesis under traditional scholars. What you accuse me of - of the Qur;an of - of my teachers of - of Islam and Muslims of - makes me sick particularly because it is completely alien to me, it, and us. Your hatred-fueled, mangled excuse for 'knowledge' is to one end - destory those who would undermine your hegemony. You did it to Japan - you wish to see it done to us.
And 'infidel' is your English word. Your Crusades created it in order to denote Muslims as deniers of Christ and worthy of death. The word used in Arabic, 'Kafir', literally meaning the one who knowingly covers or hides the truth, can easily be seen as distasteful to non-Muslims - but nowhere, not in any sense, does it approach the brutality of the word 'Infidel. That is your word, and yours alone - keep it to yourself.
And the violence is of course, in Nigeria, caused by Muslims and carried out by us alone. I really need to wonder how that works when there are scores of Chrsitians carrying out atrocities.
And really, do you really believe Islam causes death and destruction wherever it meets non-Islam? Was it us, or the Christian churches that celebrated and carried out a literal genocide in that country?

Addendum : "And really, do you really believe Islam causes death and destruction wherever it meets non-Islam? Was it us, or the Christian churches that celebrated and carried out a literal genocide in that country?" refers to Bosnia.

If you tell me whether it was Auschwitz or Sebrenica where you studied Christian theology, I'll be glad to let you know.
How telling this was your response; how telling of your pure hatred and even purer ignorance.
You need, truly need, to stop hiding behind that laughable barrier and come right out and say it: you despise Muslims, we are the epitome of evil, you want us dead. Wherever two-sided violence happens it is Muslims' fault; where we are ethnically cleansed, it's our fault as well. Just say it already : it will be far more honest.

Yep,
Ame0toko made both "WilliB" and "guest" look stupid. What is sad is that their ignorance is spreading. This is why ignorance spread because those who are the loudest don't know enough history about their own religion (ie Infidel). So its surprising they can make such generalizations about another religion that they know even less about. Nigeria's problem is more ethnic and tribal than anything else. Religion has just become another reason.

I am a Muslim. I have never been raised to hate non-believers, despise them, or secretly harbour a need to kill them - and I am not ignorant of my faith. I will take what I know - what I have been taight, and what I have been raised with - any day over your selective, laughable ignorance. Selective ignorance that has but one aim : demonize Muslims sufficiently so that it becomes justified to kill us.
Tell me, why do you always go down this route, your Christian socities? Wy must you lie too get into Iraw and destroy it? What Christian theology was it, pray tell, that had so very many churches in Serbia, Europe and the USA so passionately give their full official support to the genocide of Muslims in Bosnia? How did you explain away Hitler's faith again? is it Chrsitian thought that allows you to disavow the misguided imbeciles among you who kill in the name of Christianity et al but not afford the same rationality to Muslims?
Moderator: Readers, no further discussion along these lines will be permitted. It is too inflammatory. Please focus your comments on what is in the story.

Freedom and Truth go hand in hand, but when our own community is under attack we have to respond. Unfortunately, making both parties a partaker of some very horrible things. There is only one winner here and that is darkness. Neither true Christian nor true Muslim light shines on such actions. The leaders of both communities should consider coming together to put an end to this senseless slaughter.

Atheism is the only true religion.
If all parties in Nigeria were to see beyond their blindness and false light and convert to the TRUTH, then joy would overcome them as they viewed their fellow humans as equal beings on this planet.
Followers of fables shouldn't thow stones.

Moderators, thank you for allowing AmeOtoko to speak so far. We needed to hear his voice, and we need to learn from him too.
Granted there are people who hate Muslims, or say they do, but those are in the minority, luckily. Many more are worried about a resurgent Islam and do not know how to deal with the radical element behind it. These people are in general from many different backgrounds, not just Christianity.
In the case of Jos in Nigeria, there has been a blind hatred on both sides, which has nothing to do with truth or the nature of the divine. May they find a way out of this.

Browny1...if people of Muslim religion and Christian religions actually followed the truth of their religions, this senseless slaughter would not occur. Both religions, to put it very basically, are supposed to teach peace, a love and respect for their fellow humans. But somehow, it gets all twisted around and some groups on both sides try to pervert their faiths to justify hate and violence that they inflict. Which, in turn, spawns more hatred against each other. Vicious circle that needs to be stopped.

All religions are daft!! Look at you all here arguing about different religions, i want to scream!! This awful carnage is caused in the name of God, bleeding ridiculous. More people die through religous violence than anything else.
I saw the dreadfull photos of dead and injured on the news last night and i cried.

Chris is right, of course. Unfortunately there are fools who think that religion gives them license to kill those who disagree with them. More unfortunate is that Islam does appear to teach death to "infidels." One might argue that only extremeists are acting on this. The silence of the majority of Muslims in speaking out against the violence is telling. So if the Muslims are going to attack the infidels - believers in some other religion, agnostics or athiests - then they have to be opposed. By violence if necessary.
This "death to infidels" thing is a Muslim problem. It's up to them to solve it and live in peace with their neighbors rather than trying to impose their religion on others.

Islam means 'submission'. That's the literal meaning. I am like most Americans. I knew little about their religion until they attacked us on 9-11. But everywhere I see islam encounter another religion I see bloodshed. They kill Christians,Jews, Hindus,Buddhists and of course they kill each other like no tomorrow.

"But everywhere I see islam encounter another religion I see bloodshed."
Try reading a history book then, old friend, and you'll see that it's simply Islam's turn to mis-use it's texts to justify wanton slaughter.

Excellent post Peachy. Shame that in many places preachers, clerks... preach about killing others with a different religion than their own.
As for the "All Christians hate us" comments, no, that is not true. From what I recall NATO stepped into the former Yugoslavia to stop the killing. I certainly don't hate Muslims (that would mean I hate many folks in my family) but I certainly get sick of being accused of hating them because I am not one of them.
Countries like Nigeria need to sort itself out - tonnes of money gone into helping but they have a horrible government who is not putting the needs of people first. Help the people and this needless violence can come to an end.

Poor Islam, every one is against them.
No. Islamic terrorists are doing that to you. Save your speeches for the Islamic terrorists in your mosques. The sooner you realize it the sooner you can place the blame where it belongs, on Islamic terrorists, and their teachers.

" Muslims are killing innocent people on every continent in every imaginable way."
They're killing each other more than they are other religions.
It's a fundie middle-aged tribal thing, using religious texts to justify the bloodshed. It's hardly a novel invention.

You know people just don't realize these days that Islam is not about hate. Islam is actually one of the most hormonious religions in the world. It's the radical muslims that decide to twist the words of thier faith into hate messages and beliefs. Most of the Muslims in this world are not radical, it's just these few that bring bad light to the religion and draw unwanted discrimination to the religion. The same could be said about Catholics. People need to stop trying to catogorize all people in a religion as bad or evil, just because a handful disgraced thier religion.
0
Madverts
guest,
"these people need to get their act together, and rewrite the rules. Its up to individual Muslims to demand that the Imam`s create awareness and change."
Agreed, and outrage at terror attrocities instead of bedlam when a marine flushes a Koran down the loo...

It's too bad what is happening in Nigeria. But as long as there are idiotic religions then there will always be idiotic genocide especially in a part of the world where they don't have much else. It's pathetic in today's modern world. I disrespect both sides for violence in the name of their respective religions.
0
ca1ic0cat
Then why don't the moderate Muslims stand up and denounce the radical Muslims? Fear or acquescence?
Back in the day the Catholic church started crusades, burned heretics at the stake, tried to subjugate women, etc. etc. Then people stood up and put a stop to it. There haven't been church sanctioned killings in the US or Europe for a long time. Women are, for the most part, equal in freedom to men.
Islam needs to have a reformation. But it won't happen unless the "moderate" Muslims take a stand. Until that happens the "infidels" will have to defend themselves.

Read the title of the article again. The story is about Muslim and Christian violence.
0
Odogma
The difference is that Muslims in places like Pakistan or the Phillipines or Egypt, or even in France or Britain, might well use this violence as justification to kill Christians. But Christians in lands beyond the tribal boundaries of this dispute, because their faith does not inculcate the totalitarian urge, would never do such a thing.
0
Helter_Skelter
That's sort of simplistic, like saying war is war. There are different reasons for violence. My guess is the Christian violence is in response to Muslim violence, in a country that has little power to protect its citizens. This same response to Muslim violence has been seen all over the world. How about the U.S. violent response when it attacked the Taliban after 911? People are only willing to take so much from Islamic radicals.

Good advice! Please do read a history book, and see how islam consistently uses (not misuses) its texts to justify wanton slaughter. Your relativism is politically correct, but factually wrong.
The history if islamic violence in Nigeria is consistent and long. In the Northern states, non-muslims have been persecuted for a long time, it is only our media who ignore it.

" Your relativism is politically correct, but factually wrong."
I'm probably the most un-politicaly correct person you'll ever "meet".
If you think religions other than the one you spend all your posting time here ranting about do not have a history of violence, then I would suggest taking the advise I gave to it earlier.

Sayonara the ex country known as Nigeria! It will soon sink into a bloody mess thanks to idiot fanatics of both Muslim and Christian backgrounds. Time to divide the country up and let Muslims go to one side, and Christians to the other side and make it 2 new and peaceful countries, one Christian and one Muslim.
