Jihadism mostly feeds on poverty, it would seem. take poverty out of the equation and people have a lot less motivation to put themselves in harm's way

Bin Laden himself is from an immensely wealthy family. The jihadist who tried to blow up Glasgow airport was a well paid surgeon. The 4 London bombers lived comfortable middle class lives. The Bali bombers included university lecturers. Poverty is universal, yet the vast majority of terrorism is perpetrated in the name of Islam. Just face the unpleasant truth: the Koran incites violence, and needs to be heaviy reinterpreted for the modern age. Yet this is seemingly impossible, since the Koran says it's the 'absolute truth', and cannot be questioned (on pain of death... literally.) A deeply troubling Catch-22, which definitely CANNOT be solved by burying your head in the sand and blaming poverty.

for each of the high-profile cases you mention there are a score more poor kids bought from their parents so they can be brainwashed with promises of heaven and have bombs strapped to them in iraq, israel or oher parts of the middle east. attacks that affect the west are inevitably different in character. at its heart (jihadist) islam is just like any large organised religion: a political movement with superstitious pretensions. the best solution is to get to root of the politics

Islam is not like any other organised religion, because only Islam claims (and where possible, exercises) supremacy over not only all other religions, but all other political ideologies too.

As for poverty- ok, Islamic jihadists can buy and brainwash 'poor kids.' But if these are unavailable, they employ other means to deliver the jihad, as in New York, London, Madrid, Bali etc. The jihad is the constant; poverty is just ONE weapon in the jihadists' arsenal.

Pakistan needs to ask India for help in tracking down these terrorists dogs! May they all burn in hell for all of eternity, dirty jihadists scum! Mainstream Muslims should stand up to these dogs and make them pay for ruining a good religions name, poverty?? Balony! Look at how poor the lads on 9/11 from Saudi Arabia! The richest most corrupt country in the world!
