Dramatic change as in the US becomes an Islamic nation. Until then, our interests are going to forever be in conflict with theirs.

Obama just needs to go over there and kiss up to them like he is doing everywhere else. Lets see where this new form of American diplomacy gets us.

Forget bowing to Middle East muslim leaders. Obama needs to pack the presidential knee pads for this trip.

"Egypt’s most powerful opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood, on Saturday called President Barack Obama’s upcoming trip to Egypt “useless” unless the U.S. shows dramatic change in its policies toward Arab and Islamic countries."
They're right. As VOR himself, and the other two under different handles said on posts referring to how awful Muslims are after the Mumbai attack, the people in question (in this case Obama and crew) have to actually 'act', not just use words to placate. Of course, in the case of those posters above, they were crying about Muslims not condemning the Mumbai attack, then when Muslims condemned it, they said it was mere words, not action, and meant nothing. Soon after they DID act, and then the posters above... or some of them (as well as Helter Skelter) went on to say none of it mattered and still just went on hating all Muslims for whatever insecurities they suffer.
If that later action is any indication of what's to come, then it's good to know that Obama will probably actually act to prove that what he says is not mere words, and will be supplemented by increased efforts to improve things. Of course, like in the situation above, those posters mentioned will go no to hate both Obama AND Muslims without reason, so doesn't matter one iota to them if relations improve.
So, here's hoping that Obama and his people start taking broader steps to improve relations. Screw those who don't want the world to be a better place do to increased and improved relations between Muslims in general, Muslim nations, and others.

Broader steps? America has saved the lives of millions of Muslims in Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait. We intervened on behalf of Muslim Somalis. Catastrophic tsunami in far away Muslim Indonesia? Who does the world expect to do all the heavy lifting?
What steps have the Muslim Brotherhood taken lately to "improve relations" with those outside their group - you know, those of us outside the "House of Islam" ?

And they will bite it. Obama doesn't realize they view kindness as weakness. The Mullahs are laughing.
The Muslim Brotherhood dissing Obama. A tough one for the leftists.

The only thing tough here is for rightists to read past the headline. The Muslim Brotherhood did not diss Obama. They dissed American policy and "suggested" the trip "would be" useless IF American policy did not change.
I know, I know, too many words and nuances for an extremist to absorb.

Obama is the President of the United States . His administration is American policy now. Nice dodge though. Try again.

Ah the cult of personality. Not really evidence of a belief in democracy, is it?

What, the Muslim Brotherhood is going to become our friend? That's a change I can't believe in. Do you even have the slightest clue what the Muslim Brotherhood is and their history? Of course you don't.

Helter_Skelter: "His administration is American policy now."
Ahhh... so past American policy (ie. up until Obama was president), is now Obama's policy? Interesting way of putting things. By that kind of association, I could also say that you are American, therefore your policy is American policy, and you agree 100% with Obama. Again, interesting. Next you'll be stating, like VOR did a few months ago, that GWB did not start these wars (and therefore previous policy was not his, but is Obama's).
But I like how you are completely misquoting Likeitis.

No it isn't. His administration is controlling American policy to a great degree. But current policy is also influenced by past administrations and cannot be changed over-night. And actions by American companies and even individual soldiers may often appear to be American policy, and those are significant.
Only through dialouge can appropriate policy be made. Why are you so oppossed to it?

teleprompter: "It continually amazes me how little some people here, posting dozens of times a day about the US, know so little about the object of their endless fascination."
If you can't see that I was mocking Helter_Skelter's idea that past policy is now Obama's policy than you're more foolish even than you usually show yourself to be.
"The State Dept and the CIA are often quite at odds with the party in power and may even have their own distinct objectives for nations the US engages with, resulting sometimes in open conflict between the WH and State."
So you are now openly arguing against Helter_Skelter's points. Good.

The US has "saved" lives in Iraq, teleprompter?

I'd be much more concerned if the Muslim Brotherhood supported US foreign policy.

I would be happy if they agreed to disagree, but that will still require U.S. foreign policy to be more acceptable all around.

As per usual you are completely stuck on the most simple of points. There are more relationships out there than friend or foe, and more solutions than do nothing or attack.

Even the badly blinded-by-BDS here will admit life is now much , much better for the Kurds than it was when Saddam Hussein was in power.

Care to explicate a bit more on that one?
You're quite demanding on governments and religious groups when the subject is gay marriage.
What do you think the Muslim Brotherhood's stance on gay marriage is?
Silly question, wasn't it?
Anyone that bothers to read who the al-ikhwān are and what they stand for knows that they are in murderous opposition to the very existence of such people.
I couldn't help noticing that "the world's oldest and largest political Islamic group" chose as their emblem the Koran above two crossed swords...

Stop arming and funding Israel until Israel lets Palestine go free. When that happens, let Israel buy U.S. and other arms with their own darn money.

First off, I am primarily concerned with what happens in and with my own country, AMERICA, than about some religious stance in another country. That concern extends to the foreign policy of my country.
Second, the minute some Muslim Brotherhood member comes on here posting against gay marriage like some people do, I will give him hell too.
I will give him twice as much hell if he is American and actually has something of a say about what happens in America, my country.

Yeah, now only Turkey is allowed to bomb them! And never mind how life is for the majority of Iraqis, or should I say, how death and fear of death is for them? Math never was your strong point.

We provide Egypt - actual topic of this thread, btw - with billions in aid. What do we get in return? Why does the int'l Left never protest the aid we give to these hellholes of Islamic social engineering?
At least Israel creates - medicine, software, military and defense tech, agricultural tech, you name it and Israel is right there with us.

Bad news......The Muslim Brotherhood could care less if Israel did that.

You got a better suggestion after watching the clip? You can't possibly expect Obama to actually try to start some sort of dialog with these extremist religious nutbags.

I expect the man is as influential with the Egyptian government as, say, Jerry Falwell was to ours.
Correct. I expect Obama to appeal to moderates and help increase their ranks, thereby reducing the appeal of the nut you introduced to us. No one said Obama was going to Egypt to appeal to the Muslim Brotherhood, or any other extremist group. What he is doing is going their to shut them up, by all the means available except bombing them into submission. Part of that might be doing things even people in the Brotherhood approve of, as they surely would approve of Palestine being free from Israel. That will give them one less issue to rant about, less traction for their wheels of slime.
And about that nut: Doesn't his declaration of "They will never stop fighting us" sound suspiciously familiar??? Yes, extremists have a lot in common, but fortunately, they are not ALL THAT common in this world. Just noisy.

True, but sometimes there aren't. Sometime there are just friends or foes. Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Muslim Brotherhood, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda... are the latter. Oh, and spare me any rhetoric about how Hamas isn't all bad and the "humanitarian aid" it provides.
And you actually believe this will satisfy the Muslim Brotherhood? They'll be satisfied when Sharia law is installed through Jihad, and your status is reduced to Dhimmi. Did you know Osama bin Laden was a disciple of the Muslim Brotherhood?
